With my 93 2.3 Notch, I noticed on a cold engine, while accelerating, all my power cuts out and the gas pedal essentially stops responding. If I keep trying to press on the gas pedal, the engine will die completely and I'll have to put the car in park and restart the engine. If I let off the gas completely and let the car coast, the RPMs will drop down to idle speed and a few seconds later, the gas pedal starts responding again and I wont have to restart the car.
I realize I need to pull trouble codes. My brother has the code scanner, so I likely wont be able to get it from him until next weekend. I tried jumpering the self test output connectors with a paper clip like what I do with my 86 GT, but it's not working for some reason.
Any ideas what could be causing this? It doesn't do it all the time. It's only done it on a cold engine while accelerating.
