I am new to the mustang family, I just purchased a 2014 CS mustang with manual transmission. My problem is the engine shuts of when I put the clutch in to slow down. It does not happen all of the time. For instance when you going down the highway and the light turns red I put the clutch in a coast to a stop and sometimes the engines dies. I have searched other forums and others have had the same problem. I have taken the car back to the dealer and he says I need to down shift as I come to a stop instead of coasting. Is this correct? Or is he being a turd and trying to pull the wool of my eyes? He says I am not driving it right.

The engine should just return to idle when you push the clutch in since it's now disconnected from the transmission (it should not die).

I'm not familiar with this issue though since I never experienced it when I had my 2012 GT. Did the other people who had this problem find a solution to it?

There was not a solution in the post that I have found. The dealership has pretty much said it's something I have to deal with

Have you checked for a vacuum leak? Your car should not stall in neutral when coasting.

They have had it in their shop for over a month and can not find out what is wrong with it. They are saying I need to down shift instead of coasting to a stop. I told them it should not die period!

Well that sucks. It shouldn't die and it's unfortunate that they put the burden on you and suggest something that is not the solution to whatever the real problem is. Do you know what they have checked out? It might be worth sitting down with them and seeing what they have done so far.

I am not sure what all they have checked out. On a good note I made them take it to a performance shop to see if they can figure out what is wrong with it.

It does sound emissions/vacuum related. Or something in the intake... maybe a sensor.

I have a 2014 T500 and have the same problem intermittently... dealer can't figure it out yet. Did anyone come across a solution? Maybe a bad tune on the car?

First check your fuel pump filter and then your TPS sensor.
HTH.

I had the same issue with my cam tune, i did the whole reset leave battery unhooked stuff, cleaned the throttle body real well, and replaced the stock air filter. That helped a ton, still would once in a while happen but stopped completely when i added new plugs to the mix.

Just had it retuned... it's not stalling but it's holding 2000rpm with the clutch in now and lurching around in every gear 1-4... very odd.
