Engine install questions

I have a '84 GT that that needs a transplant. My donor is a '90 5.0.
A couple of questions
Is there any mod you would do while the new engine is on the ground? For ease of installation of anything. I think I'll do a cam swap, but is there anything else?

In you guys opinion, is it easier to take out the engine and tranny at the same time for the swap or just the engine?

Any mods will be easier to install on an engine stand. The best would be to clean the engine up real good and repaint it, but a cam swap will be way easier with the engine out for sure.

replace the water pump...good insurance while it is easy to do.

oil pump/pan(7qt)
windage tray
main support
intake
new thermastat

all the little things that could go bad in a few months...just an idea

oops forgot to ask if 5 sp...

clutch
rear seal
steel flywheel (lighter then cast iron=faster revs)

poly motor mounts/trans mounts

pilot bearing, rear main, oil pan gasket, (get the frpp one piece) valve cover gaskets (again, frpp one piece)

install the engine and tranny as one unit, otherwise you're gonna create a lot more work. use a leveler to get it done. It only costs a few $ from harbor freight.
