Engine mount height

G'day all, just a quick question regarding the height of engine mounts. I have my set of k-code mounts on ebay at the moment and I am looking at changing over to either TCP/Prothane/Ron Morris adjustable mounts and need to find out if there are going to be any huge problems? (other than probably won't be able to use the stock hipo exhaust manifolds). Looking at the original mounts, I suppose that the newer style mounts are going to drop the engine by a couple of inches? Will this have any flow on effects through the drivetrain and transmission levels?

Thanks,

Scott

When I installed my TCP engine mounts it did drop the engine about an inch. This put the fan into the shroud so I had to add some spacers to lift the engine to get more fan blade clearance. It put the throttle linkage at a greater angle and so WOT needed to be re-adjusted. It also causes a lot more noise into the cab and vibration through the steering wheel. After all of that I took them back off and went back to the stock mounts but put a bolt through the driver side motor mount to limit the movement. Good Luck

Thehueypilot, thanks for the input. I am still investigating why there would be a huge difference between all the models (K-Codes to A and C etc...) when they all share the same engine size dimensions and weight, have the same transmission tunnel, but just have different mounts. Can it just be a case of the 'K' engine sitting higher in the engine bay and having more rubber and braketry there to support it?

Thanks,

Scott
