Engine Quits With AC on and clutch in

94 GT 5.0
Recently had AC fixed and now my car will die when I have the AC on and put the clutch in. It only happens when it's real hot outside, usually 90+. At this point the shop that did the work can't duplicate so the next time it happens I'll take it in right away. I was just wondering if anyone has history with this.

Sounds like the iac might be not allowing air to flow through it as it should.

Might try giving it a good cleaning with some kind of solvent.

Grady as usual, is right-on. It might also take a little goosing of the throttle stop to get the revs up a little.

aggreed(spell check) It sounds like the iac is not functioning properly....try taking it off and spraying some carb cleaner in it.

hehe, buddy had that problem with his car. i agree--IAC, and check for codes.

ot: where in TX are you from?

The shop got nothing on the codes. Okay, I'm really not stupid, but what is IAC? Sounds like you guys are on to something and since it's going to hit 96 up here today I'm betting this will happen again. I'm in the DFW area.

the IAC is the bigger black piece on the throtle body. i think its called the idle air control motor or sensor. for future refrence the smaller piece on the throttle body is the TPS, throttle position sensor.

Mike, we know you're not stupid.

Here is some info on cleaning the IAC and resetting the idle.

Thanks all! I took it off and sprayed it tonight. It really wasn't dirty though. I'll give it a good testing tomorrow.
