Engine Running Differently (bad differently)

Last weekend I installed an Edelbrock Performer intake on my '95 GT. Everything went well aside from loosing the timing, as I pulled the distributor, but I planned on advancing the timing a little anyway. When I was finished, I had set the timing at 14 degrees with no pinging.

The engine ran great for a couple days, but I started noticing that something was not right. At about 1300 to 1600 RPMs, the engine feels like it it kind of chugging and the car shakes a little. It seems to happen the most in 5th gear, but I have noticed it in 4th and 3rd as well. The feeling is rather hard to describe, almost as if it falls flat on its face, but recovers in a very small fraction of a second.

Tonight, after I got back home from work I went to start it a few minutes after shutting it off and it died after a few seconds of it revving up and dropping back down.

What do you guys think the problem(s) could be? Perhaps the timing or something? The quicker the help the better, as I am supposed to take the girl that helped me install the intake out on a date on Saturday and I want it to be running great.

Check all the vacuum lines to the manifold. Maybe one cam loose.

It could also be too much timing... My car was really bad below 1500 RPM until I started running premium... I do not know what my timing is set at...

I'd say its likely vaccum related as well, as a leak can cause missing like you are describing. Recheck all your connections under the manifold, and replace any lines that have become hardened or vulcanized, as they might have cracked when you were doing the swap. Also check that all of your plug wires are properly connected and in good shape.
