Engine sound

I got my old mustang back that I sold 5 years ago, and I am now looking over it.
It has been well taken care of, with addition of disc brakes, 5 blade rear springs and Shelby drop.

However, the engine is untouched. I had it rebuild in 2002, with small upgrades like new cam, carb and intake.

Now after driving a few days I feel the engine sounds slightly different than before. It even feels more sloppy. The sound reminds more like a V8 diesel-engine.

(Is it me or the engine that needs care?)

Maybe it just has a small exhaust leak that is giving it an odd sound. I have seen that before and that will make it sound a bit like a diesel. Check to make sure all the exhaust manifold/header and collector bolts are tight.
