engine sputter

hey guys i have a sputter under 2500 RPMS, sometimes after that but not quite as bad, i had the distribtor out and put new timing chain,lifters cam and intake on, so i thought i messed up my rockers, but i redid them and that wasnt the problem, so anyways heres what i've checked so far


re adjsuted my rockers to make sure the valves werent to tight, checked my vacumes, started the car and ran it and had a propane torch and checked to make sure my intake was sealed, theres a new cap on the dizzy and new plugs and wires

but this is the thing my advanced vacume isnt working i have the line blocked for now and the car runs decent, i hook up the advanced and the car will berly idle, bucks and pings....

i am thinking that i need a new distribtor? i have no idea im stumped..help plz!

Can you see what your timing advance is when the vac is hooked up (and it runs like crap)? It's been awhile since I puttered with vac advances but do you think you have too much timing coming on too low in the powerband? I honestly used to curve dizzy's to not peak too much and the advance came on a bit later (than some of my bud's would do).

Welp, not much help but a bump atleast. Good luck.

Have you tried cruising with your aircleaner off. I know you said you had a small aircleaner on it. is it just choked up running way rich and in the low rpm's having an issue? Try taking it for a spin without your aircleaner on. (short spin just for test purposes you don't want a bunch of dirt getting into you engine)

ok ill try that i have to reset the timing, if this doesnt work im going to try another dizzy, and then if thats not it im gonna take my intake and carb off and make sure there sealed good, i was thinking im not gettin enough vacume for the advanved spark to work..if i dont get it today im taking it to someone that knows lol

well i pretty much got the sputter gone fellas, the reason my advanced spark wasnt working was my pickup coil was gone in my distribtor, got that working still had the sputter, went to my buddys and advanced my timing. Dunno what to because i cant see the numbers on my balancer im going to buy timing tape this week and set it to 38* total advanced..!
