Engine Swap. Need advice!

I have a 94 V6 5spd. I blew the head gasket and ever since I got it fixed, its been running like crap. I have the oppertunity to drop a 5.0L from a fox body. The engine has 160000 km on it. (99 000 miles) The engine is stock and its a buddy of mine. He is willing to sell it to me for 400$ CND. (297$ USD). And we would install it ourselves. With the ECU and the exhaust, etc. I'm looking at under 1000$CND. What is your opinion on this. Good deal? Should I rebuild the engine before dropping it? How much would it cost to get it rebuilt. And one of my main concerns: Would the engine be too strong for the tranny and rear end? I know that both V6 and 5.0L Mustangs of that year have a T-5 tranny, but I heard that the gears are different in the V6.

when I rebuilt mine I did it for 700$cdn just used the same pistons, new rings bearings, cam bearings, hot tanked, manifluxed, and the cylinders honed. It saved alot of money doing it my self. About the conversion, I'm not too sure what they used for tranny or rear end in those.
