Engine Trouble Codes( With Video)

Hey lil joe, if he's running a computer, and all his sensors, how can you leave off an egr valve. He can run a block off plate I guess. But if he's playing around diagnosing codes, 31 is going to pop up along with anything else involving egr. I don't know where he lives I didn't check, but what about smogging car?

Well yeah, if emissions is a requirement, then it should be left on.

But answer your first question. They way the system is designed to work, if any EGR related code is logged. The ECM will quit operating the EGR components. And all timing and fuel adjustments based off of a functioning EGR system, wont be added in to the requirements.

Duh!

Yeah... I had just thought about that. I was trying
to figure out where that code could have come from because car starts quickly. You hear the pump prime. I was going to clear the codes and start over, but manual says don't do that. Can I? Will the real code come back? Seems like 31 is the only real code.

I live in Michigan and it's a AscMclaren, so I don't drive the car often. Egr is still there and I want to fix it if it'll get me a smoother ride. I just want everything to work. I'm going to clean it or replace it when I get time.

@89Ascmclaren
How bad do you want to fix the EGR? I told you exactly what the code 31 pointed to and how to find the problem and fix it. I didn't copy that out of a book or somebody else's post. That's real, original first hand experience. Take it and run with it.

Yeah.. I saw the write up and diagram... Thanks. I wanted to clear out any false codes since I thought about the fuel pump and running out of gas. I'm going to use the guide you posted to complete the job.
