Been resurecting a ford 5.8L GT40 "proboss" ski boat engine. It's just a 5.8 with GT40 heads, intake, and the rest is all standard 5.0L EFI stuff, but with 24lb injectors.
I've replaced the fuel pumps, filter, and injectors. It has 38psi of fuel pressure.
Replaced cap/rotor/plugs/wires.
It starts right up, idles great, runs up to 2800 rpms just fine. But when getting on the throttle, it won't go past 2850- it starts cutting out- blahh-puh-blah-puh-blah and that's it. Ease off the gas, and it works again. Doesn't matter how much throttle I give it off idle- it'll accelerate just fine until rpms hit 2850.
I'm lost- I played with the distributor timing- advancing and retarding which no change. Is there a sensor that could be the culprit?
