guys, first of all i would like to thank all of you out there. you've really helped me with all of my questions.

http://market.autopartsfair.com/ford-car_engines/catalog-item-5062.html

check this link out.i was thinking about rebuilding a 289 but im wondering if this wouldn't be cheaper? im assuming it would bolt right up to a 4spd manual that i got with the car.

currently its got a 6cyl and a 3spd and i want to upgrade.

also im wondering if anyone knows where i can get a complete rear end, preferably something like a 9" with posi in 5bolt. either that or the next size smaller wich is a ...?

It def adds up REAL quick.
Like: distributor, ignition, clutch, flywheel, itntake, carb, fuil pump, water pump, radiator, headers, oilpan/pump, valve covers, tranny bellhousing...

When I blew my 289, I thought that replacing the motor with a performance motor wouldnt be THAT big of a burden money wise...boy was I wrong!:) Getting all the right parts together is time consuming, and it gets expensive. I hope it'll be worth it for me when it turns over the first time.

The 57 thru 59 Fords are a good swap for a 9". Some others will work also. An 8" would work if you're not building too radical. They should be cheaper than a 9" also.

Check the sticky for rear ends for all sizes.
