my ship agent collects car from dealer (transporter) insures it, ships it (21 days approx door 2 door) and handles all paperwork and payments incl duty & Vat.
i now only need to get it thru' SVA type test thing....which should be £300 approx thru a no of willing parties readily findable in an area that suits you!

Congrats, Bridgestone. I am in the UK too, about 2 hours away from you actually. I wouldn't mind seeing that car at Santa Pod. I have never been there, but I hear they have Fast Ford shoot outs quite often.

Two nations divided by a common language....

One thing i did notice whilst speaking to a number of Ford dealers recently...and please bear in mind i'm a Brit with no USA car buying experience at all - ...
They all (ok 8 out of 10- but a lot anyway) - said they are the largest Ford dealer in the region!
and "hey! Mister English man - if we haven't got an 05 Mustang GT - then you won't find one anywhere...because we are the largest, bestest, Ford dealer in the whole area!"
OK..
At least in England we can bull***** with style - but these guys were laughable.
in the 6 months i've been interested in securing a 2005 Mustang GT - i've been speaking to one (shall remain nameless) NJ dealership who have plain lied about the service i would receive. And that's after they had a $500 deposit from me.
Outright untruths and seriously shoddy ideas of how to deal with a punter.
No return of phone calls or e:mails.
Nothing.
Don't get me wrong - we have idiots over here too - but generally they have to prove themselves as responsible, professional and courteous before they can take a customer's money and have actual responsibility for that customer until deal conclusion.
I reckon this is probably one of those cases where we are two nations divided by a common language.

Hey man. Congrats on the car. You'd better keep that locked up to make sure some little bastard doesnt nick it tho. Thats one thing I dont miss about England. Where I lived car theft and vandalism was out of control. Its no problem here.

Post pics when you get it.

Performance red was such a little prick. I'm glad they finally banned him!

or ... is my faith mis-placed?

Wow nice that must be a fine feeling to have a car nobody in the entire country likely will have their mits on.

Dude you MUST take some pics and post them up when you get it. Heck take a nice road trip into London and snap some shots in front of a few landmarks and send them off to Ford I bet they would love that.

Hell no. No offence intended to the 05 stang, I love it, it's looking like a very good platform to customise, and body kits are no doubt going to be killer. Unlike most, I've liked almost every aspect of all the Rousch, etc designs that I've seen. The problem I'd have is having to have it converted to RHD, change lighting to suit the ADRs, etc, pay shipping, customs duty, GST, plus pay for the car in the first place. Since after that it'd most likely cost more than the luxury car threshold, I'd have to pay a duty on that, which is 25% of the excess over the threshold. I'd probably style the car to my tastes, so that'd be a bunch of money. I'm planning to fix up a 69 sportsroof. I shouldn't have to import it, there should be one here already that suits my needs, or there's an importer who can do it for me, or if I do import it myself, I won't have to pay customs duty or the luxury car duty, just GST. Sure I have to bring it up to Australian standards, to a reasonable extent anyway, but I'll be modifying it anyway. I could register as a hotrod and leave it as it is, no need to bring it to AU stds, but I think that imposes limits on use. Besides, cars 30+ years old can be LHD, and there are no emmissions standards for pre 71 cars here, so I'll have no troubles with the motor I plan to build. It's not that radical anyway, and I want it to be efficient and as clean as I can make it, it just won't be any modern OEM motor, that's for sure.
