I may just cut them free from the rest of the structure. Then strip them down with a D/A or angle grinder, then finish/shape them with fresh glass work. Done correctly I could even paint them to match the car...

Then I can make the speaker box seperate. I still want the speakers out of sight so a false front panel will work.

Smart decision!!!!

You probably shouldn't need the extra glass work to finish unless the panel were cracked and broken before the speaker box was built. Are you going to try and put the texture back in or do you care?

The box was coated with roll on bed liner. I may use it again if I have enough, it makes the finished product waterproof and hides imperfections.

Well it's Monday and we are out in the garage. We are starting with the gear swap, going from a 3.73 to a 3.08.... I know it's a big step but I think it will make the car easier to take a cruise in. So let's begin.

The car was torn down before I knew it, like usual I have halfway point pictures to start the tale.
disassembled the rear-end at this point we have the axles out, removed the center chunk and pulled the pinion.
I wasn't alone in all this, I had an accomplice... meet my partner in... car stuff....

I'm about to put the cover back on the differential, I think we have done more goofing off than work. Lol.
Right now I'm actually watching some grudge racing videos from Orlando Speed world, lots of fast car out there.

We got real nice engagement on the gears.

Well used an impact gun, made quick work of it. With father times help things wiz along. He has forgotten more things about cars than I have learned.

We also installed the new calipers and SS brake lines, oh man what a difference! I can't believe I didn't do this year's ago.

Next Monday begins the coil over installation..... join me on my journey as the saga continues.

I am trying to make this thing as comfortable as possible, Seats are on my list to do. I hate the seats I have now they are really uncomfortable.

I have the factory titanium grey/w red stitching, but they have small tears In them. I may try the Dave approach and sew them.

It's Monday again so as I promised here are some pictures of the coil over installation.
gutting the old chit.
here is my sideways picture of the assembled coil over assembly... we had to cut the dust cap off the strut. Then installation was pretty straight forward. my world is on its side today....
Ready for final assembly, still needed to tighten everything up.

Why haven't I put these on before now? I'm stupid. That's why.
Car drives better rides better brakes better.... well it's just better.
I did lift the nose of the car up about 1/2 inch or so, now it doesn't bottom out when I hit the brakes hard.

I've got them, too. Seem to work decent for a street car. I've been thinking about going coilover. Nice to know they fit Monro struts.

What brand coilovers are those ?

UPR 350lb rating for the street, car is a heavy pig.

There is no way that that car justifies a 350 lb spring What the bloody hell?

I have 175# springs in the front of the Monster. The only time you're gonna need a monster spring like that is if you are going road racing.

Wow. That is heavy. I have 150# on mine (I used to think they were 175s, but was under there the other day) and it rides like a town car.

I assume they are the 350# springs

Part number read as follows.
11. 2-350-64.5-64.5

They were on the race car, we used the new coilovers that came with the k member. So the old Springs we used on my car.
Thing rides like a dream and stays planted in the corners...

I also replaced some vacuum lines in the passenger wheel well, now my A/C control doors work again.

Next week I will try and get the speaker box out of the car and get ready to redo the entire back seat area... yay....

Also on my list.
-shim the driver door
-adjust all windows
-replace everything in the quarter window assemblies.......( fix )

This may or may not happen next week, I am going in for surgery on Friday to have my wisdom teeth cut out.... that's gonna suck HUGE. Two impacted and the other two are coming in all fugged up....

Man! Busy, busy! Nice work man.

I was still in the Army when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, two of mine were impacted as well. I won't tell you the story of my Army dentist and his anger issues. I'll just say, "it'll be great Steve!". Lol
