Build Thread Enola- Finishing touches

Thanks guys it took a ton of effort to get the system to work... I'm not the best fabricator, and with minimal equipment this was a challenge. But hey it all fits under the hood, works well, and cost less than 1k!

So your idle is around 1000rpm then? How about the wine, did you give up on keeping it quiet? I think it sounds cool and I doubt cops are going to care, and if they do its because your rolling down the road fish-tailing or above the speed limit.... So who cares dude, whine sounds cool.

Also, your filter location, are you getting heat soak in that thing cuz its in a pretty bad location for heat. Will it not fit on the drivers side in front of the bypass tubing? Or better yet, pipe it into the fender behind the skirt? Just wondering if this is the permanent location cuz I am thinking your going to get some heat soak and not get as much power as you would like.

I also noticed you still have 2 TB's on that thing? Or is that just a bracket on the tubing close to the filter on drivers side of upper intake?
 
idle is currently down to 850-950 range after 5 seconds of lifted throttle.. it idles the best this way in the programing.
The whine is lower when the idle is lower it only gets noticeable driving the car above2500 rpm just the nature of the beast.
It does fishtail..... a lot, took it today to a apprenticeship board meeting instead of my work truck. it let the tires go in 3rd gear.. its just so much damn fun.
I tried to pipe in behind the skirt decided it was too much cutting on the car, so I didn't. I'm not willing to give up the strut tower brace so there is no room for any piping to run that direction. the heatsoak is only noticed at idle, moving down the road the low pressure behind the cowl lets cool air in too the filter, and I have a 24x32x3.5 intercooler in the front of the car. I actually drop in temp when I get into boost. today 60* temp rolling down the hot interstate at 70mph I had 110* temps in the intake that not too bad at all. I saw a 15* drop in temp at 7.5psi pull in 3rd gear. this may change come summer time but space under that hood is limited.

Yes it still has 2 TB on it I know its not an ideal scenario but at this point I am just enjoying the car. the problem is the adapters to bolt to the intake... they are a huge pain to make out of 1/8" steel and I cant weld aluminum right now due to lack of equipment. I thought about doing a dummy TB but the second one is off of a 4.6 and wont bolt up.

I see. Is it not possible to switch and route the filter where the bypass tube is going on the driver side and route bypass over top where filter is routed? Or route bypass under/behind engine?

Or:

I noticed previously you had filter ran to passenger side of car, you could drop the filter into the fender over there instead. Or did you not want that much distance from s/c to filter? You could even heat wrap the tubing to keep temps down.

But then maybe like you said it's doing ok with intercooler.
 
My master plan once I get One TB on the thing is too build a box above the intake [fiberglass the cowl opening into a pan] and take the single tb up to that pan with a foam turbo filter.
The only problem with routing it over to the fender is I actually increased temps, the sc had to fight all that tubing so it could breath. I measured almost 8ingh with the tubing routed over to the fender, I attribute most of that to all the bends it takes.

oh and the bypass runs under the sc about an inch from the header. The tube coming out of the sc hat I made is the discharge it runs into the fender and down to the IC. really the only place left was above the intake for the filter.
I [may] be getting myself a new intake for my bday, one of those carb style drilled for injectors that will open up a whole lot of options

This has just been fun watching you work through this project and I'm the kind of guy who will come up with 12 ideas everyday and throw them at you if I was your neighbor lol.

You better post a rolling burnout or it didn't happen dude. And we will be pissed. Have someone follow you with camera. Boom!

Its more like the car will spin the tires pretty easy 27540 r17 nitto 555. on the street I imagine that its not hard to do, its not like they billow smoke or anything car just gets squirrely.
as for dyno, Nahh.... not yet. I did punch in a equation in my megalogviewer custom fields section that guesstimates hp based on injector size vs pulse width, at the top of 3rd it says around 410 or so..... not really sure how accurate that is but its fun for bench racing.

OK so I sucked it up and got some 3/8 steel plate and made 2 tb plates. Using a 78mm hole saw in steel that thick sucks...
One will be used to make mild steel transition from ic to the plenum so there are no soft bends that will flatten out under vacuum. The second will be for mounting the TB and cables to the SC. Let's see how much of a pain in the *** we can make this!
