I spent a few hours researching on 4M.net and I think I have the solution for using the Escort Flywheel in a 2.3 Mustang.

Parts needed: Escort GT flywheel ('80's 1.9L) and bolts. Mustang disc, pressure plate.

Here's where it gets a little tricky.Throw-out bearing.

option1: use the Mustang t.o.b. and stack 2-3 thick washers under the clutch fork pivot ball.

or

option 2: Use a t.o.b. from a '60's Chevy I-6 (10" clutch)

The mini-stock guys run this all the time and concensus is it will be good on the street for a NA car.

Turbo apps. will need a bigger clutch set-up.

HTH and try at your own risk, yada yada yada!

Why do this? My first thought is for a lighter flywheel. I found out about this while researching for a 2.3 turbo in an escort swap.

I was wondering when this mod would finally show up here. Here is mine above my old stock pieces. I'm using it now in my Ranger.
Cheers all

WHY??
Lighter weight, less rotating mass, quicker throttle response.

Priced them at Advance; Both $49

Mustang FW=21 lbs,Escort FW=17 lbs
