With my cams and exhaust they don't even look at me to race. I have found that s197 guys think they are the **** but my car got more power, handle way better and my fat 18 x9 front and 18 x10 back with big tires looks and sounds way better then 05+ mustang.

Soon to be single turboed , I no longer need to worry about 90% of the car on the street.

my buddy has the exact same turbo on his foxbody. he made 511rwhp on 10 psi. he is dropping a 331 dart motor in here real soon and upgrading to an 88mm turbo.

Fortunately, around here all of the S-197 owners I have run into are real cool.

In our local Mustang Club, we have quite a few of them. Real nice people, into all types of 'Stangs. A few of them have owned other body styles as well.

There is one guy I know that is probably in his early 60's or so, drives a white '06 (I think) GT. REAL clean car, nice exterior mods and wheels, and has gotten a few trophies. We shoot the crap about my car and his car as Mustangs, not really as two different body styles.

During Mustang Week 2007 I was out cruising around the beach, and a guy probably a few years older than I was then rolled up in a nice blue S-197. We caught eachother at a light and he said "that thing sounds great man, what kind of exhaust are you running?" So I told him, and told him his car sounded nasty too (it did)... light turned green and we rolled off.

Good times. But there are DEFINATLEY douche Mustang owners out there, and I have met some of them. They think their car is God above all, and that their **** doesn't stink.

Noticed yeah, but makes sense. The S197 body is way sexier IMO (coming from the guy with a SN95 Cobra).

I also like most muscle cars. I give the GM guys shat but i can respect them too. As long as the s197 crowd doesnt disrespect me or my car, they are cool with me.

Yup... Usually they wont even look my way when Im at a light or when I see them in traffic, & Im not tootin my own horn, but I know my car turns heads.... 9X's out of 10 though, its usually an older person driving them though.... To be honest , those S197's dont even turn my head anymore unless its a Roush, Shelby, or Saleen, or a GT with exterior mods... All the regular GT's I see in stock form are so Blah looking IMO...

+1, I have noticed the same thing and i totally agree on the regular gt's looking blah, they dont do anything for me

Most S197 guys I've come across have been pretty cool, minus this old douchebag with a pony tail and hoop earring in a GT500.

That said, there's this guy with a stock 5.7 GTO who always mugs me in my neighborhood when I drive by.

It may have 300hp, but I still think it will run a 14.9 in 1/4. The new challenger v6 has 250hp and runs low 15s.

We'll see soon enough. Does suck though how these cars weigh in at 4000+ lbs.

Yah, I did. But it was a two way street as I can remember snubbing anyone that wasn't in a modified foxbody. I came from a long line of 3rd generation mustang owners in my family so i know what those cars are capable of if built right.

Even now driving the 04 gt I still have a great amount of respect for the 3rd generation mustang. I'm still a huge fan of the notch!

I'll take a twin turbo 89 notch mustang any day over the new s197s!

A little off point but I can remember back in the 80's snubbing a VW Scirocco. That car spanked me a new one! I still wonder to this day what the heck he had in that car besides four passengers!

I'd take a new car anyday over an older car. I always found it funny when posting about a new Corvette or Porsche and some guys chimes in how he'd rather keep his 1989 Camaro because it's faster.

Kinda makes me scratch my head and wonder what criteria people use when judging which car is "better"

To me.... New > Old Which would I take between a 2010 Mustang GT and a 2003 Cobra?? The '10

I had the same choice in 2003. It was either buy a new 2003 GT...or a 96-98 Cobra. I went new.
