Everyone with 275mm tires

I am getting ready to do a 5 lug conversion on my 91 Vert using 94-up Cobra parts. The wheels I will be using are 17" x 9" with a 6.12" back spacing and I would like to put 275-40 555Rs on the rear. Other than flipping the quad shocks what else needs to be done? What wheels are you running with your 275s? Also I want to run 245-45s on the front with the same wheel. I assume there will be no problems with that.

You prob won't need to do anything, I'm runnin 315's with only a 1/4" spacer, on 17x10.5s

I run AFS 17x9 4 lug cobra type r knockoffs on rear with 275-40-17 Goodyear eagle F1's. I run eibach sportlines and they do not rub, the tires just tuck into the wheelwell under suspention bump. I don't know th backspacing, (I bet you could look it up on the AFS website), but the don't rub on my quads, the only thing they are close to is my exaust. They are perfectly spaced for my car

No way the 275s fit up front. I have 275s out back with a 1/4" spacer and I have no problems. Quads are still mounted the same, not flipped. 245s out front don't rub at all except full lock usually.

Do you have to have spacers to fit the 275s? What backspacing do your wheels have cjman15? I would like to avoid spacers if I can.

im running 275's in the rear with 255's up front on 17 x 9 cobra r's no problems

I am using the 94-later wheels on my 90 GT, but I am also running a 94-later rear end complete with the longer axles. The 275s stick out farther than they need to so I had to flair the fender lip, and still have plenty of clearance on the inboard side. My options now are to replace the wheels for the fox body wheels, or machine down the wheel to allow for more clearance.

I have 255s in front and they do rub a little, even after pulling the front fenders. Also, watch the A-arm to wheel contact, sometimes they rub there.
The rubbing I am getting in front is only at full turn. Since I only reach full turn in parking lots (and other low speed situations), I don't really worry about the rubbing.

Im running 275 40 17s in front and back and have only noticed small amount of rub. I am using 95 gt spindles and such with 10th anv cobra rims. Dont forget that tires have alot to do with if you will rub or not. Each tire company has a differnt process of measuring a tire.

Not if the backspacing of the wheel is correct. You can't always get a wheel with the perfect backspace though. A good question to ask would be what the backspacing is for the wheel that requires the quarter in. backspace then subtract that from the wheel backspace to see what you might need to run it without spacers.

For the rear you are running the longer 94 axles so the 6.12" will be correct to set that wheel back in.

If you used stock length axles then you would need 5.95" BS.

On the front I am pretty sure that the spindles and rotors are in the same location as stock so you would have to run the 5.95 BS wheel for it to work.

A 245-45-17 will work on the front but you will need some rack limiters to keep the wheels from hitting the a-arms at full lock.

i read a while back spacers were bad to use because the break the lug bolts, have you had any bad luck with yours or did you buy different lug bolts?

im running 18x10 in the rear with a 275-40-18 not sure on the backspacing but i dont rub.in the front is 18x9 with a 265-35-18 again dont know the backspacing and the wheels only rub when you turn all the way.and htey fit really nice.

The only other thing you might wanna do is roll the inner edge of your rear fenders, to keep from cutting your tires if they do rub. Ive got them on the rear and they do scrape if youve got bad roads or people in the back.....

i run 245s up front and 275s in the rear

your 245s up front _will_ rub when full-locked on the inner-fender-well

Assuming proper torque and adequate thread engagement, I don't see any reason why using spacers would change the loading on the studs enough to break them. There should be very little difference between running spacers, and a smaller backspace wheel.
If proper torque is not achieved however, all bets are off, and anything can happen.

I could be wrong, that's just my thoughts.

I run 255 40 17s on the front with 17x8's, I did have to put the 275's with 17x9 on the front once, (I got a flat on the rear so I had to put my spare and my good rear on the front with the fronts on the back) I didn't want to blow up my posi. it didn't rub witch is really surprising, but I was very nice to it (no hard bumps sharp turns or anything)

Next time I get tires I think I am going to 225 ro 235's on the front

275s on the rear and 245's on the front here. 93 Cobras with a 5.74 backspacing. Had to REMOVE the quads (flipping did little to nothing to help, the tires still where right on them), and had to beat in the inner wheel well a little on both sides so it wouldn't rub around off camber turns. Others have this size with these wheels, and they have had NO problems. Not even any quad shock problems. Every car is DIFFERENT. So what works for Joe Dirt doesn't mean it will work for you.
