hi
Ok im in the same boat and have been there for weeks I did a search and Im wounder about everyone else does it only surge when cold for lets say 30seconds to a min or is it a constant surge at idle while cold and hot?
Ive personaly cleared all eight codes , clean 10 pin, cleaned throttle body and iac, changed iac, act, ect, both o2s, reset idle 50 times, check and repaired all vacum leaks, and still the same F*&%KEN problem.
anyone have any other ideas or what cured your problem.

me again, i just tried something and worked...
ok i just went outside to start it, started and died twice, then I took a hose pinch tool and pinched the hose to the map sensor, started the car and it now held an idle but rough waited aboiut 5 secs and removed the hose pinch and car idled like a champ. Did I stumble on something, any ideas???? :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

no its still speed density, dont want to change it over until all codes and problems are solved. the only code left is 42 scanner said it running rich. Im thinking its either the injectors(someone screwed with them before i bought the car) or its in need of a tune up. plugs are gapped at .040 should be 53-56 and fouled.
whats up with your ride?

well, I ordered new injectors, and while waiting for them to arrive, I'm putting anew gas tank in as the old one had a leak (no thanks to my stoooopid a$$)

Once I get the injectors, I'll put it back together (gas in the upper intake or not) and chase the idle again.

Have you hooked up a vacuum gauge yet?

yeah vac gauge hooked up to the ports on the firewall it read about 18" but used a crappy gauge. its a little on the low side but I not sure what the stock reading should be. You figured ford would have built a computer with the ability to read live parameters, like GM did. I hate guessing, and throwing parts at it. Parts up here are bloody expensive.
what was wrong with the injectors?

5 of the caps were cracked. I know they're replaceable, but those injectors had 180,000+ miles on them. Time for new ones.

I'm beginning to think a custom chip will be the best route for my idle... but will tinker more when I get it back together.

And uhh, yeah I agree with the whole "throwing parts at it" concept. My wife is getting a lot more tired of throwing parts at my car than I am, thats for sure!
