exhaust question for you guys

im looking at this UPR offroad pipes for GT's, now i know they are not smog legal but my state does not smog test. my question is, should i do this or should i just x-pipe and gt driver side with gt high flow cats and mufflers. what exactly does an off road pipe delete? anything? im not big on exhaust so im sort of a noob. will this GT setup even FIT my car? im guessing the undercarriage is the same? what else do i need for a full exhaust set up if the i get the UPR Off Road pipes.

So will the GT off road pipes or GT X,H, and Prochamber work on our cars? Or do we need "Extension" pipes put in?

Underneath our cars are exactly the same. You will need some hangers for the driver's side muffler, but the boltholes are already there. It is my understanding that you can hook the O/R pipe to your headers. If unsure, contact the company (either Ford or the pipe manufacturer) and confirm.

The cheapest way to get a driver's side pipe is to order the GT OEM one. It is stainless steel and should do just fine.

Note: there has been much discussion about drastically opening up the V6's resulting in the loss of torque. The GTs benefit from losing their "restrictive" exhaust, but their "restrictive" exhaust may be just perfect for us. In some of these same discussions, it is suggested that the Prochamber may maintain enough backpressure for our use, also. So take some time researching what it you want to achieve by going dual.

so what we need is, that x-pipe thats like 80 bucks, the left side pipe and new muffler. correct?


may just have to get that MRT that scrmin is runnin, he got some very nice gains with it.

I have tried to get anyone to admit that a GT x ,h, or ORP will bolt up to our manifolds. The standard answer is "we havent tried, so we dont know".

Someone needs to get a factory h-pipe from someone who went with an ORP.

Ive tried, but havent found one yet.

Im also wondering if the GT cats are "highflow" when installed on a 4.0, or if they are the same as ours.

well i was talking to someone on another board and they said the highflow cats are not really worth the money on a n/a car. if u plan to go boosted of some kind, then it would help. If we went with an H-pipe how would they connect with the exhaust coming off the headers? is it the same width from each other as an H-pipe? is there some custom fab that needs to be done? If an H-pipe will work, and just bolt up to (shimmed of course) to the gt pipe and the stock driver pipe, i may do that. I will go to a place tuesday and see what they have to say about it. I wish I knew someone with a GT that we could do side by side comparison and measurements. If anyone can get measurements that I would need to worry about I will get my car on a lift tuesday if possible and see whats going on.

I have a GT h-pipe on my V6. The mounts and the distance between the pipes is the same on both cars.

The V6 has 2.25in dia pipes ahead of the y, and 2.5in after the y.

The GT has 2.5in all the way.

I had my y-pipe cut and the GT h-pipe welded on at the front. From the back of the h-pipe I used a factory midpipe and the factory clamp with GT muffs.

Fits great. The muff shop charged my $108 for the install.

how much did it cost you total? i see that fang has some leather interior options that i may get along side some black carpet, but just so i know how much did it run you for everything? so the y pipe was cut before it turns in, and u just welded up the H pipe and went dual. sounds easy enough.

About $400 total. I got the h-pipe for $40, $110 midpipe + clamp, muffs $65, Labor $108, muff hangers $75.

That total is for everything including shipping on all items.

I think this is the way to go, full SS dual exhaust system for $400.
