Exhaust question

How much would the tone in my exhaust change if I were to upgrade to the 2.5 inch cat-back pipeing instead of my current 2.25 inch pipeing? I currently have the Flowmaster original 40 series mufflers. I am wondering this because I am probably going to get the Super 40's and I was trying to decide if I should get just the mufflers to weld in or to get the whole cat-back. I would save a few hundred dead presidents one way, but I would rather have the best possible exhaust tone I could get. The only mod I have are cat-back exhaust and a K&N filtercharger. I am probably going to get a high-flow catted H-pipe soon too. Tell me how you think my exhaust would sound with each possible combo. Thanks for your time.

You don't like the ones you have now? What is your goal? If it's more sound you're looking for, skip the cat-back and swap out the H-pipe.

Personally, I'm about to go the other way -- I'm running an O/R X-pipe and MAC cat-back, which is really frickin loud. I'm going to put my catted H-pipe back on this weekend, and then I may pick myself up a pair of Steeda Sleeper mufflers and weld them in. I'm getting too old to have an obnoxiously loud car :D.

Yeah, I just really want a louder, deeper sound. It is not quiet, but I would like it to be a lot louder...damn those 4 cats....so I should probably just save up for the catted h-pipe...and if i have money left over to waste, I COULD get teh super 40's? is that what you gusy think...thanks
