Exhaust Sound Question

I recently added a MAC Prochamber w/ cats to my car which already had Magnaflow Magnapacks on it. I wasn't really pleased with the resulting tone of the exhaust. The note is lower now, but the sound level actually decreased pretty dramatically. After listening to sound bytes, I was hoping for a louder, lower tone. I'm happy with the performance of my car, because it seems like I have a little more power in the mid to upper rpm range, but i am a little displeased with the resulting sound. Will, a new intake/filter wake up the exhaust, or am I stuck with what I have until future mods?

I don't think an intake is really going to make that much difference in the sound of your exhaust. Taking off the cats would definitely wake it up though.

unccatted prochamber is the ticket. part of the cats jobs it to also interfere with sound as well as cleaning emissions. remember running uncatted depends on your local emissions.

the intake will make it slightly deeper. so yes an intake will change the note it just wont be by much.
if you want to do something really dramatic throw in a set of cams. then you will be really happy you have those converters

before my off road x...i just had flows on and i added a cai and it acutally made my exhausts quieter ...now with the off road x its loud as ****

my o/r x seems pretty loud i guess, i dunno really because i installed it all at once, but i like it!

I'd like to do more engine stuff, like adding some new cams, but paying to get someone to do the work gets expensive. I'm into the simple bolt ons that I can easily do in my own garage

Should have gone with an off road h pipe.

It would have been much louder.

most of it should be fairly easy as long as you dont have parts rusted like hell or have a stupid previous owner (if there was a previous owner) who welds things that shouldnt be welded.

Yeah for that deep mean rumble you want, you definitely need the off roads. But if that is not an option, then you should either go with the Mac catback or some 1 chamber Flos.

A catalytic convertors ONLY job is to burn unburned gases and clean up the exhaust emissions. They have no job involving reducing sound. The fact that they do reduce sound is a byproduct of there design.

X-Pipes and the Prochamber all reduce sound levels when compared to a traditional H-pipe. They also produce more power than a traditional H-pipe.
