Just wondering if anyone has the time and/or knowledge to explain to me the differences in sound that shorty headers vs. longtube headers, and h-pipe vs. x-pipe would make.

I'm running BBK l/t's with a Dr. Gas X and Flowmasters with turn-downs. The thing is (and this is after several setups), I can't get that desired Stang roar. I'm talking the one that's not so throaty and filled with bass, but the one that absolutely ROARS at higher RPMs...kinda like this:

http://www.mustangexhaust.com/forums/soundclips.php?action=play&id=57

It's that open, hollow roar I want. That sound clip is with an h-pipe too, and I heard that generally they're more throaty, while x-pipes are supposed to have that sound that I want ("raspy" I guess).

Info. would be much appreciated. Thanks.

by what i have experienced, the x-pipe will give you the most raspyness(an offroad), and as for headers, i'd think your just fine. the catback might need some help.... well kind of. turndowns seem to kind of "calm" the tone down some, but maybe some new mufflers would work.
myown setup is FMS shorty headers, bassani O\R x-pipe, and Mac catback. this is just revving to 3-3200ish. the real rashy roar is much higher
