The biggest impact on exhaust note is the thing that's making it...the engine. More engine = more sound.

I have the magnaflow catted x pipe and cat backs on the 95gt and it sound good. I can see heads turn as I drive. It sound better now than when I had off road h pipes on it.

BTW, I saw a Charger R/T get on it to pass the other day. I heard better sounding 6 cylinders.

I have a fool proof formula for a super loud Mustang that still utilizes mufflers, well barely mufflers...

Shorty Headers + Off-Road Midpipe + single chambered flowmasters with dumps = LOUD!

what you like changes with age - I don't need exhaust loud anymore - let the engine sing it's own sweet tune.

It's a sad thing to admit but that's the truth. When i was 16 i would've drove around with open headers if i could've got away with it. I thought the louder the better. Now i still want it loud but only when i want it loud...i wanna be able to cruise with my better half and my son in the car and be able to have a conversation without screaming, but i still wanna rattle the car next to me when i rev it up.

Agreed.

A v8s exhaust doesn't have to be "loud" to sound good.

depends on how loud you want to get. im sure the majority of the people taht have flowmasters are runnin 2 or 3 chambers. i personally am running single chambers and they are ridiculously loud.
