Explorer Intake Hypeola

Since my car is a horrible turd I have been looking for a budget power adders and Ive heard alot about the Explorer upper/lower. Since my car is apart I thought about this upgrade

What year is best?
How much of a gain/will I be able to tell?
Cost in junkyard?
(I found one on ebay for $250/ and $350... Both with 65MM TB)
Should I get the TB also or stick with stock?
Better to port stock?
What about the heads?

If you can help me out in any way Id apreciate it....

If your going to stick with stock heads or mild Iron heads (GT40/GT40P) for a good while, porting the stock lower is a good move and cheaper - but if your going to move to a much better head down the road (up to 250cfm), then the Explorer is a better move. Maybe a Performer if you can find one cheap in good shape. Going to a 65mm TB is never a bad move.
