I might have a hookup on explorer upper and lower intake and heads...

they are off a explorer in a junkyard.. how much is reasonable for all 3 or each them seperately? what years are better for heads/intake?

whats the difference in 40 and 40p? also im running mac shorty headers will i have trouble running the heads?

what kind of performance increase would those 3 items have along with a 70mm tb and 24lb injectors with calibrated MAF??

my buddy is gonna check the eyar, he works at a junkyard, jsut started so hopefully i can have him get a hold of a few things, id like to get a electric fan too

I'd say,at the salvage yard,$250 to $300 for all of it......going by the local yards around here and their fees. There's one that sells heads, any kind, for $50.00 each.Perhaps you should try for the whole engine. It may be cheaper than the parts.

its a junkyard that theya re in the process of tearing it all down so me and my buddy would ahve to remove em, im sure they will be pretty cheap though...

whats the difference with gt40 and gt40p heads and will my mac headers cause trouble running them? i thought i read soemthin bout melted sparkplug wires...

Be careful with some of these recently junked Heads and Blocks... A TON of them are there from the CARS program. (Cash for Clunkers). The engines are usually injected with Sodium Silicate in place of engine oil to destroy the engine. I think that the heads may be salvageable... but the entire engine? Naw. Intake should be plenty good though. Just be careful!

There's a 98 Explorer at the yard right now with the intake. I'm planning on taking it when I get a minute.

Junkyards cant sell the parts from the c4c program, same with the transmissions and rear axles, this is how were saving the world, cause all those cars were completly junk, and if you use any part of the drivetrain in another car, your part of the problem not the solution.

If it were me, i wouldnt pay more than 150 bucks for those parts. A visual check of the cylinder heads is not going to tell you what kind of shape they are in. You will definitly at the very least have to have them re-surfaced at a machine shop, and when they are there who knows if they are gonna need a valve job, valve seals, springs or even if the valves are straight.

This stuff on the market (i.e. stangnet, or corral forums) imo is worth for 125 for explorer intake, and 250-300 for the gt40p heads. if you go to the JY and pick them yourself you should be able to get everything for a steal.

Looking at the price list for my local JY that has set prices. Price for one cylinder head v style cast iron is $19.99 +$5.00 core, and $24.99 for an aluminum intake manifold +$5.00 core
