So yesterday I put plugs, wires, cap and rotor on. I bought some ford racing wires(red) for the stang. However there is one left and I cannot figure out where it goes. Any ideas? It is about 9-10inches long and one end has a bigger copper center in it. The stang is running fine, but I can't figure what it goes to.

some performance plug wires will come with extra coil wires sometime. not everbody runs the same type of coil or distributor cap. this is what i think.

It's the coil wire for older 302s with the coil bolted on the intake manifold, on the passanger side. You don't use it in an EFI Mustang.

Thanks guys, that makes me alot less nervous about me forgetting something. Oh, I also have a fuel filter I need to install, it seems a little big, because I have never changed that out in a mustang before. I appreciate the quick responses. :SNSign:

fuel filter is kinda big i think too. about the size of i guess the oil filter as well. it is in front of the gas tank, right about the rear axle i think. peek under there and you will see the lines running to it. be gentle with the plastics if you filter didn't come with new ones.

I would also wait to change the fuel filter first thing in the morning before you have started your car to avoid the wonderful gasoline shower you can get if the system has pressure in it.

Wrong (kinda) the shorter coil wire is for the 94/95 coil which sits right above the power steering pump. Foxes coil is near the drive strut tower...

No matter what you do, gas is going to come out of the fuel line. Just don't be laying right under the filter with your mouth open! Gas is not good tasting.

Shut off the fuel inertia switch or the fuel pump relay and try to crank the car a few times to kill the fuel pressure in the lines before doing the filter. This will get rid of some of the shower, but some fuel will still drip out... don't lay directly under the filter!
