how much fuel economy am i losing with my f-303? right now i get about 190-200 miles on a tank but when i fill it up the car only takes maybe 11-12 gallons..damn fuel guage....

anyways, i know there are other factors that deal with fuel economy(coolant sensors, 02 sensors, fuel filter..etc..) im just asking about the cam

thanks

I was checking out what you have into your car. I just bought an F-cam for my 306, how's it sound at idle and does it take off pretty good? Also, Is ur GT-40 intake the tubular one? I have the gt-40 tubular ans I thought that you cannot port them because they are not a casting?

the f-cam in my 306 has a nice choppy idle.....BUT...it lacks power below 2800 rpm...good cam but too much overlap and duration for an n/a street car. i actually think id gain HP and TQ if i swap to the trick flow stage 1 cam...i have ported gt-40 heads...not the intake. i actually have a stock intake manifold.....i know im looseing at least 50 hp but im still making a decision on wich one to get.......

dont get discouraged with the cam though , its a good cam, and a really good blower cam.

anyone else have a comment on the f-303 affecting gas economy?

Is it me?

200/11=18.2 mpg 190/12=15.8 mpg

What does your fuel gauge have to do with it? Looks like you're getting somewhere between 16-18 mpg. If that's around town - it's not bad. If it's highway - it pretty well sucks.

My first thought was that F-cam fuel economy was an oxymoron.

16-18 around town with your build isn't bad. What's it do on a steady highway run near the speed limit?

I get 17- 18 mpg combined. Ill get 200- 220 out of a tank. I could use a good tune up.
Stock Block Cam and Heads.

jaidedeye - to put it in perspective, mine gets 18-19.5 around town (not a whole lot of stop and go), and 24-26 on the road with a mild H/C/I combo and the equivalent of a Stang with 3.90 gears.

well ive never had it on the highway for an entire tank, but when i went there and back to harrisburg i had 350 miles with a quarter tank left.. so thats what, 35mpg.. and that was crusing at about 1900-2100

i really have never ran a full tank on the highway. but i have driven to raleigh (50 miles each way and only used 3/8ths of a tank on 100 miles so i guess on a full tank all highway miles im looking at 240-250 on a tank.....

its just hard to know when im really empty with my guage....i usually have about 2-3 gallons left in the tank when i fill it up
