Opinion, facts, experiences all welcomed...

which cam would you rather have in a Daily Driven Fox with

EDELBROCK PERFORMER RPM WITH 1.90" INTAKE VALVES

TRICK FLOW SPECIALTIES STREET HEAT INTAKE

STOCK BOTTOM END, want to run 1.6 rockers to avoid PTV CLEARANCE

I'M RUNNING THE F CAM AND PERF RPM INTAKE AND NO ISSUES ITS A DAILY DRIVER ABOUT 100 MILES A DAY STOCK 95 GT HEADS PORT MATCHED.

I LIKE IT BECAUSE MY FRIEND WITH HIS E CAM CAN'T HANG IN HIGHER RPMS I TEAR HIM UP EVERY TIME BUT THE POWER DOSENT FEEL LIKE IT KICKS IN TILL 3000 RPM BUT PULLS TO 6500 VERRRY GOOD.

Well if you run the 1.6 rockers (which will have very little to do with PTV cleareance issues) the comp grind is .512 lift. The .544 is with 1.7's. That said the comp grind should provide you a better idle quality as it has -7 overlap at .050 compared to the -1 of the FMS cam.

The comp cam core is better than the FMS (which is reflected in the price)so that is one more plus.

If you do go with the perfomer heads then the comp grind will serve you well in a DD. If you stick with the GT40's you'll probably be happier with the FMS grind as it'll extend the rpm range a bit.

I know it seems like a foreign concept but as your induction gets bigger you need less intake duration. More lift is helpfull but you can get that with 1.7's.

Or for an extra 100 bucks over cost the comp grind you can get a custom. This does come with added expense as the valve springs you will get on the heads may not be approriate but then again they may not be right for either one of the two grinds you are looking at.

If it were me... the Fcam vs the Comp cam... the power will be more on the F cam . The idle quality will be better with the comp... Idle quality?? If you install the F cam in using the 4* advance mark on the t-chain assy.. the F will beat the Comp hands down in all aspect!! and cost a 100.00 less!! Just a thought, yes??

Now im officially going Mass Air, only reason Comp Cam was a thought was becuase i am SD and the two Cams i hear about the most are the Comp xr270-hr14 and the crower 15511

btw any thoughts on the crower? Taking my time on this build want to squeeze every drop out of the 302

Any one here running the F-cam with a STOCK short block (no flycutting of the pistons or anything like that, its an 88 shortblock)
what springs and what size rocker arms are you running?
