I have access to a 175 ton press brake and lasers so the cutting and bending really is not a big deal. I would love to buy a new welder for home, just can not justify it at this time. Mine works on aluminum I just have to try a lot harder to get the same results as a newer syncrowave or dynasty. My buddy has a dynasty and he can't believe the welds I lay down with it.lol I tell him if you get used to using my old 900 pound giant this new stuff is like cheating.

Yeah I learned by just turning on a dinosaur of a synro 250. Luckily it was setup for Al at the time. When I switched to DC the fun began. Didn't know anyone to tell me to go to HF start only lol. Took me a while to figure that out. LOVE the dynasty's. Would love to upgrade to the 350, but $$$$$$ I rarely need that much. So I have been mixing helium instead.

I used that one so it would work with the gauge I have, it seemed all the universal ones are for GM resistance.
I haven't tried honestly. But the new ones aren't the same as the originals. Even the "OEM" ones aren't as good. They just don't read right.
Made some good progress today. Started working on the manifold and got it about 95% converted to efi.
Started out by machining the injector bungs in. The Sullivan intake already had bosses cast in so I did not have to do weld in bungs, just machine what was there. This was my first time doing this so it took some time, but it was not that bad and it came out nice.
The hold downs for the rails were also cast in but needed some machining also, this was done at the same time.
After finishing the manifold holes I shortend and machined the rails to accept the injectors. Also tapped the ends to accept a -8 fitting, drilled the holes to mount them to the manifold, and tapped the manifold for the bolts.
Here are a few pics of the manifold all cleaned up and going through final assembly.
And here is a shot of it sitting loose on the car. I still have quite a bit to do before mounting it for good, but it looks like all the old piping will still work.

Wow, you do a great job fabricating your own system! How come you have access to such machinery and equipment? Are you working in a shop or is this your private "building center"?

My main reason for the change is my in-abbility to leave anything alone.
All in all i was very pleased with the carb, normal drivability was great along with WOT. However I do quite a bit of spirited runs with my friends, most of them have z06 corvettes and vipers. While I have plenty of power to keep up with them in straights I struggled in the corners. When trying to accelerate through a corner when not WOT (3500-4500rpm) but seeing 0 vaccum to 3 psi the powervalve circuit would open anf go WAY rich. If I gave it more gas it would fully spool and go into a slide (not cool when going 85 through a corner). If I let up it would unsettle the car. I also autocross a bit and experience similar issues.
So I am hoping with the efi I can smooth out the transition and control things better.

As far as the equipment goes, I work for a fabrication shop. I started there when I was 18 (I am now 30) and went though an apprenticship. I now manage our laser and forming departments. So I can use that stuff after hours.
The pictures of the mill are at my local speed shop where I buy all my parts. They got out of doing machine work several years ago and sold most everything off. Now they just focus on selling parts. They kept their bridgeport along witha a few other items, and they let me use the stuff when I need to.
At home I have a 30 x 30 shop with a MIG, TIG, several band saws and hand tools. This is where the final assembly pictures were taken.
I like doing this stuff as it keeps my skills sharp as I do not get to work with my hands at work anymore.

Glazier/Nolan has senders specially made for accuracy, surprisingly no more expensive than the 'bad' ones. I understand Drakes' units have recently been improved in this regard, too.
