Hey Guys (& Gals),

I've had a few customers tell me that Ford offered the Mach 1 interior option as a upgraded dealer interior option on the coupes (not just the Fastbacks).

Can anyone verify this?
Could you get a Mach 1 interior package in a coupe if you asked?

I've never seen one - it's like the Bigfoot of the Mustang world.

The 69-70 included the mach1 interior. The 71-73 mach1 came with the standard interior, the mach1 interior was an optional extra. Any Mustang could be ordered with a deluxe interior, and actually the seat upholstery pattern was the only difference. Many people see the sculpted door panels and woodgrain dash, and think the deluxe and mach1 are the same. I've never seen anything suggesting the mach1 seats were available in a coupe or convertible.

Dealers, of course, could do anything they wanted. This doesn't actually count as an "option". I'm sure a dealer would have installed Camaro seats or Cragar S/S wheels if you waved money at them, that doesn't make them a legitimate "option", either.

To my knowlege, in 1969 the Mach 1 did have the deluxe interior with some special features, including the red carpet pads and red band in the hi-back seats. The Grande's had the deluxe interior with black carpet pads and standard seats with headrests, and a cloth material. I can gues that the deluxe interior could be ordered with any Mustang, as I have seen some GT convertibles with the deluxe interior.

I think 1970 followed the same pattern, and not sure for 71-73
