Factory Wheel Finish

My '04 GT has polished 'chrome' 17" factory wheels similar to the attached Cobra style wheels. Does anybody know if the factory finish on these wheels is laquered at all ? What is everybody using to clean/polish them ? I was tempted to use Autosol metal polish but thought it might be too harsh ?

They're polished aluminum that's been clearcoated, lacquered, or whatever you want to call it. Soap and water is the best way to clean them. Don't waste your elbow trying to polish them as you're just trying to polish clearcoat!

They're power-clearcoated. Very tough stuff. Soap and water is best to clean them.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't sure. I'll keep away from them with the metal polish in that case. To be honest in the 7 months I've had the car they have only ever had soap and water and always come up bright enough. Guess if it ain't broke don't try and fix it !
