I hear ya. I think fit is going to be my problem. I don't see any issues with running 274/40/18's on the back, but I wanted to go a little narrower on the front, while retaining the stock ride height. The only alternative is 245/45/18's....of which I hear are a tight fit on an 18x9 with other brands of tires. If the Falkens are actually a little on the narrow side in comparison to the rest, as I've heard, I don't think the 245's will work up front for me?

According to that, you should be fine with the 245s ...looks like 8-9.5 is the approved rim widths for the 18s ..they indicate the 225s to be the narrowest you can go on the 18x9" rim (although that would probably look funny and have absolutely no rim protection) Why not just get 255s for the front?

I too can attest to the frequent rotations w/the XE-512's. I have had to rotate them frequently also, maybe it's only a FWD (I have them on my winter car a Ford Probe GT) thing w/em' For the price, IMHO, they are the best all season tire. Good dry tracton, great wet traction and decent in the snow, even with 225/50/16's on my 16x8 wheels.

Hmm... I won't be able to rotate mine at all if I get a different size for the back ...I'll probably just have to replace the back ones sooner than the front

The ones I'm looking at are actually the 451's, not the 512's. According to the specs, the Measured Rim Width for the 245/45/18's is 8.0", with an Approved Rim Width of 7.5"-9.0".....that's pretty friggin tight on an 18x9 wheel? I can't go with 255's in the front, because then the front tires would be half an inch taller than the rear.

Yeah ...I would just say get either both 45s or 40s ...the back tire will slightly taller, but not a whole lot

Hey do you know if NTB would match the price of tires on www.discounttiredirect.com ? They claim they will beat prices. Because they are about 50 bucks cheaper per tire on there than at NTB. And I'm not sure how much shipping would cost for 4 tires

They might. The Town Fair Tire near me matched discount tire directs on a set of Yokohamas for the Stang, matched plus the shipping price that is. The shipping price was figured to be round $50 or so. They weren't crazy bout it but did...
