Soaring, I have to agree, that was very immature to remove all of the info you posted. And original members? You registered here a year and 8 months before I did, so who are the original members you speak of, when you've been here over 4 years? I've gone out of my way to try to get things to calm down between yourself and other members, because I never like seeing a member being run off of a site for any reason. There are terms of service to this site and no one is immune to them, staff included. And for what it's worth, I gave an infraction to one of the "original members" that you speak of, so where exactly is the problem again when others have been subject to the same rules as you? You received one at the same time, and it's the only one you have that's current against your account, so it's very much untrue that anyone is receiving any favortism. There was no favortism when Jenns01TA stepped in, in another thread, and she also told you the situation was being watched and discussed in our staff forum.

I hate bringing things like this out in the public, but you've been made very much aware of what's going on, as well as what's being done to resolve the situation. She (Jenns01TA) also pointed out that, much like myself, we walked into this one blindly because the moderator of this forum was out of town, so we had to fill any holes in the moderating until he could return, so we were unfamiliar with anything going on here, and we needed to analyze both sides. I still can not say who is right or wrong, but your actions, and publicly calling out the staff of this forum on more than one occasion lead me to believe that your side of the story may not be the whole truth. If you so choose to stop posting here because you can't be patient and let the staff work on the issue at hand, that's your choice. Keep in mind that we (the SN staff) are unpaid members of this site, and that we can't get together all at the same time to come to a conclusion as to what action, if any is necessary. That is why we have a staff only forum, and we're having a current discussion about this very issue, as well as others that arise on the site on a daily basis. You don't take priority on this site just because you dig yourself into a hole and expect us to bail you out. We have jobs and this tends to come secondary to that, so things take time. If you choose to continue to post on StangNet, I suggest you start following the rules that have been set by Mike Raburn, as the other members do, and I can assue you that your problems will work themselves out before the staff needs to intervene.

i agree with this post. the moderators do an excellent job on this forum maintaining the balancing act of keeping things inline according to the rules of the forum, and still providing a place where us hard heads can argue in good fun, while dispensing information others need to build and maintain their cars.

but as stated, the moderators cant be the ones to fill in holes dug by members, rebuild fences, mend relationships, etc. it is up to the forum members to follow the spirit of the rules and avoid causing problems for themselves and others. there are, and have been, many people come here with good information, and the ones that stay are the ones that treat everyone with respect, and have fun at the same times, and are willing to admit that they dont know everything. remember soaring1 that you are just one of what, 100,000 members, or something like that, and you need to get along, or like any other large group of people, you will be and outcast of your own volition, as people will not take you seriously.

I don't want to clutter up the FAQ, but I'd like to thank the moderation staff for their response to this "situation" over the past two or so weeks. I'd also like to apologize for complicating the matter.

You guys have a difficult and often thankless job that goes unseen by most users. Thank you.

8.8 rear end

I am rather new here , and don't have all the information yet, but I will share what I know thus far.

I have a 1964 comet hardtop (Mercury's version of a Falcon)

while it looks different, suspension, drivetrain, etc is almost identical to the same year mustangs.

While removing a 98 Explorer motor at a local yard... I took a look at the rear end.

8.8 rearend with 3.73 posi stock......disc brakes, with E-brake, factory "ladder" bars, pan-hard shock and even a decent sway bar set-up.

This rear end is 3" wider than my comet rear end , ( I believe the comet rear is 3/4" to 1" wider than a stang)

For me this is perfect as I plan to run late model rims.

I am awaiting new springs and a spring relocation kit before I try the install.....

I will take pics and if anyone is interested, I can share the info I learn as this might be a decent and inexpensive swap for you stang guys.....

I pulled the rear end myself (to avoid damage) rotor to rotor with e brake cables for $125.......

Fantastic information! :nice:

How about a section for feedback concerning real world experience with different products. Ie: flaming river vs total controll vs rss, Wilwood vs Baer, Classic Auto AIr vs Vintage....... You get the idea. :stirpot:

Wow... That was truely interesting lol. I guess there really is one in every bunch.
Ok, I am new here so I do not know what that was about and to be honest don't care!
I would also like to say thank you to everyone on here for alot of great information. I reacently purchased a 66 mustang with an i6... all original with 63000 miles on it that has been sitting for the past thirty years covered in a garage. Not sure if this is the right place for all that so I will get right to the point. How about horsepower vs. unibody..... I am making the i6 to v8 conversion and there is a ton of options as far as crate motors... I would like to keep it as stock as I can.... so no welding will be done... How much horse power can a 66 mustang unibody take!!!

Ok first off a 9" is readily available out of Lincoln's and mustangs the 271 mustangs came with nine in hand if your switching from a 6 v to a 8 v then your going to want a 9" an 8" will work but not for ever and if switching remember the spindles and suspension has to be upgraded .
