Looking at changing out the 2.73's in my 88 LX to 3.73's this winter.
What's your favorite brand of gears and the cheapest place to get them?
Been looking at Ford Racing but open to suggestions.
I've always used the Ford Racing gears and I have no complaint about them. As far as where to get them, try Summit, they are usually pretty cheap and if by chance they are cheaper somewhere else Summit will match the price.
I just did the exact change about a week ago to my 93 lx the car is so fun to drive,and every day driveability is so much better.From what I have learned the ford gears are the quietest.You can go to your local ford dealer and order them.Or there are a ton of places in the mag.do you have an aod, or 5-speed?
ford racing for me too. i've always heard they are the easiest to install. you can pretty much slap them in with your old shims, check tolerances and wear pattern and go. i've installed two sets without a problem.
I have heard that Ford Racing gears are the easiest to install, and have the least possibility of gear whine. I know when I order my gears very soon, I am ordering them from Ford Racing.
Thanks for the replies,I was reading in the Ford Racing catalog I got that their 3.73's have a new cut to them for lack of a better word.Anybody got a set of those yet and to answer one of the questions above it is in a 5 speed and how long will it take a good shop to swap them out.
