i have seen someone say something bad about every clutch at some point, except Spec.....that is the route i will go when the time comes. Perky sells them, IIRC.
good luck.
alright, here goes.
Spec quality is subpar. they have a LOT of chattering issues. Just about EVERY spec out there chatters all the way until the end of the break in period. some, like my bros continue to chatter beyond that and never stop. many shops, brothers included will not stock them due to the excessive chattering issues. (I asked) That having been said, besides the chatter, my bros spec stage 1 grabbed like an on/off switch. I'd stay away from the stage one though, as it is organic. Get a stage 2, or with extreme power, a stage 3.
the king cobra is a great clutch, especially for a fairly stock application. I've heard, though with big power applications, such as yours, they tend to wear very quickly. I've had one in a more or less stock 86 gt for over 5 years now without a problem,...and I never observed any break-in period.
Right now, my personal favorite is the centerforce dual friction. We installed one on my bros 88 notch a month ago. Grabs like nothing else, and the counterweights make the clutch effort even way easier than the spec, in fact, clutch effort is lighter than stock. Centerforce has imo a better name and history than spec does, but that's my opinion.
Lots and lots of people love their specs, so if you go that route, you'll probably be ok. Do consider the centerforce though, it's a fine clutch.
