Ive got a '92 LX and the fenders are junk. I just bought a set of fenders last night and going by the vin # as I read it I thought they were '92 fenders as well but today when I double checked on CarFax (dont have a subscription BTW) I found out that theyre actually off an '87.
What me, my dad and the guy I bought them off of read as an N in the vin # (meaning '92) was actually an H (meaning '87).

These fenders are really clean- no dents or rust.

Would I be able to use them on my '92 without any problems? Ive got stock Pony wheels with 225/55/16 tires.

i think the changes are only minor, like the wheel wells are a little bigger, or smaller, but you'll never know, taken the fenders off are fun

Theres an inch difference at the front of the fender. The '87 fenders are wider at that part.

It doesnt seem like there will be a clearance issue but I just want to make sure there isnt.

The body shop I got an estimate for repainting the whole car (with rust removal too) said they would replace the fenders for the same cost as if I replaced them.

I have a 90 and I run ponys with 225/50/16s and lowered 1 inch without any problems. You should be fine but I don't know if there is any difference in the inner well splash sheild.

Did the fenders come with the front moulding and extensions? If so, you can use them as is, but if you go with larger wheels, you could have some rubbing. Mine rub with 245-45-17 tires on my Bullitt wheels.

You can also use the 92 fender extensions on the 87 fenders, but you will have to cut the fender back a bit to fit them on and paint them. The very bottom front edge of the fenders is about 1.5" smaller on the 91-93 fenders.

One of the extensions is broken but the other is there. The moldings are black and mine are painted.

The guy I bought them from is going to see if he has a set of '91-'93 fenders and will trade me the ones I bought last night for the right ones. He;s got tons of Mustang parts.

I have an '88. I used to have pony wheels and now have 17" cobra wheels.

The next time i paint my car, i am definitely swapping the 91+ fenders on. That extra inch makes a huge difference.

Get the right fenders

Yeah, that definately helps. He's got tons of parts and complete cars that he's parting out in a warehouse and more at his house. He said he should have a set for my car.
Most are older 4 eye cars and a few Capri's too.
Too bad these dont work because theyre really clean for being 19 years old.
