HI,
First thanks to everyone who have replied to all my threads with advice. I talked about all motor and I talked about a Kenne Bell but after all that consideration went with a Vortech SQ 8# kit.

The kit should be in about a week from Friday and not sure when Jay (my son) will find time to install it. Should have dyno numbers in a couple weeks My son Tom and Paul of Pauls Auto http://www.paulsautomotiveengineering.com/ helped me decide.

Anyway have a 347 stroker making 321rwhp with a 10:1 compression ratio ( I know it is high for a SC) any guesses on what it will make after a tune?? I am thinking 450rwhp and my son says closer to 500rwhp.

Guesses??

Awesome Pops! Just be conservative on the tune and you should be fine. I'd also keep the rev's under 6,000. 500+ hp isn't out of the question. I'd do at least 50lb injectors.

You're gonna have a hell of a time tuning that. 94 octain and take out a lot of spark. Gettin a chip burnt or doing it yourself? I'd say you could see 500 with that combo but I would personally tune it for 450ish; we have a hard enough time fighting knock NA.

I would imagine around 450 RWHP with the 9 psi pulley. I was looking at your signature, and I would have imagined that your car would have run faster than 12.9 at 106.5. It seems like you have a pretty decent 60', so I was just wondering why you weren't closer to the low 12's. Did your car lean out up top? Don't think I am flaming you, that's not it at all, I just had a question.

Going for a conservative tune all right, have a stock block . I am sticking with my 24# injectors for a little while. My son has 42's in his '95 and is going for 50's and a fast system later and I will get his 42's . Have a 6300 rpm chip in the msd box. I am going to try and stay conservative.

That is what I thought around 450 or so.
I am going through the trap in 3rd gear at around 6200rpm. 3.73 and big tires 325x50x15 's Anyway all bets off now the S/C should change that I would guess . Have to wait til next year to find out !!

Well I have gone and done it now!! Kinda wanted a K/B but was talked into the Vortech. Was hanging at the track and had Tom and Paul there (doing some mods to a '05 for 5.0 article) and they said it would be better for me and easier on my high compression engine . My son Tom loves his. He's making 525 and wants 600 for next year. I'll never catchup .

Good to hear from you,
Steve

Yeah you are probably right tune it for 450ish. Going to get a chip burnt, Mike at Pauls auto will do the tune.

thats pretty scary, i wouldnt want to risk it. especially if you are getting a tune for it also. i wouldnt want to have to run an fmu at all, but especially not with a chip. or maybe you meant you are sticking with 42's and it just a typo hopefully.

i wouldn't run the car at all with the blower and 24's wait til you can put in the 42's and make sure you have a big intank pump too , that thing should make 500 at the wheels

you need the 42's the 24's will be at 100% duty cycle at the 4000-4500k rpm mark i would figure.

With a compression ratio like that, wouldnt it be wise to throw nitrous on there? Nitrous loves high compression motors unlike blowers.

Hi,
I will check with the tuner and get his advice..... Should only be a couple months til I get my son's 42# ers.

i have a 331 with a vortech and victor jr heads and 55lb squirters with a 255 intank, t rex inline, -8 feed line and -6 return line, 80mm pro m meter and power pipe, and i made 470 to the wheels. i have since changed the anemic cobra manifold to an edelbrock performer rpm II so i will be getting the chip reburned this week with hopefully better #'s. i had 42 lb injectors on there but when i was having it dynoed i was told they were 2 small so i went to the 55's. so i spent almost 4 bills for injectors that were 2 small so if anybody needs em they have like 300 miles on them. the compression is a little high, mine is a few less than yours (9.8-9.9) so when its tuned they will have to take it easy with the timing. i would definetly have a chip burned, it wont run for **** without some type of tune.

I think anyone with > 302 and a power adder needs to get the Snow Meth Inj kit. I allows you to run more timing (or same if you want to be conservative) but keep your risk for detonation low by lower the ICT. Eades ran RICH with 42's and 500+ HP by using the kit. It also "acts" as fuel and allows a lower injector to suffice.
Good LUCK!!!
