Finally got my qa1 k-member in with stock arms. PICS added

Ok, first off. Read the instructions all the way through :damnit:

I posted last night about the holes not lining up. Well, With the stock arms you have to grind the back side of the control arms so they fit on the new k-member. Then once you get the space you need you will need to either use the old arm bolts or get a new set of 4 for about $10. The front arm bolts go in just fine it's the back one that are a lil work. You have to grind 1 point off of the bolt head so it will slide in straight. The way the k-member is a whole bolt head wont fit. So if you grind one of the points you can still get an open end wrench on it. Now once you get ready to install the bolts you will see there is some play in the bushing face to the k-member. Just shim each one with a washer and it will be tight. That is what a buddy told me the qa1 tech guy said you have to do with stock arms. I will get some pics up tomorrow night. :cheers:

Depending on where it hits on the tube you will have to grind the back side of the arms by the bushing to get them to fit.

The control arm bolt will not fit in here with out some grinding of the head. I ground down 1 point and it slid in just fine and I can get an open end wrench on it.

This is the drivers side and if you look between the busing and the arm you will see I had to shim it with 1 washer.

Once I got the kinks worked out it went together just fine. I'm going to put the wheels back on tomorrow then pressure wash the engine bay and suspension. Lmk if you guys have anymore questions. Vibe do you need anymore pics?
 
No I think I got the idea. Is it necessary to buy new bolts or did you do that because they were 11 years old? I'm a little confused on where the grinding took place. Was it done on the K member itself so the wrench would fit around that nut (third pic)? On the fourth pic, was the washer put in place because it was rubbing?

Rog, make a mental note of those pics.
 
Ok, I got new bolts becuase they were 11 years old and the stock ones have the built in washers so I would have to grind them more. I ground the bolts heads so they would fit.

Then you have to grind on the back side of the arms becuase there is extra material and hit hits the tubing of the k-member.

In the last 2 pics i had to place those washers there to take up slack in the bushings. I guess the aftermarket arms are a hair bigger and with stockers you have to take up the slack with washers.
