After 4 runs to Home Depot and 4-5 hours of labor (by two complete noobs, lol) I have finally installed my Bassani X-pipe and hiflow cats. I would have to say the hardest part of the installation was getting the entire system on underneath the car since you basically had to shift everything. The bolts connecting the downpipes to the headers were hard intially, but after getting some more extensions and the amazing PB Blaster they came right off.

All of the parts in the kit looked great and we only had one problem with it. One of the downpipes was a tiny bit oblong and we had to flatten it some to get it to fit to the cat. We just used a piece of wood to slightly bend it and it fit very snug. The car feels like it has a little more power in the lower RPMs and it is definately much louder. It is almost too loud when combined with the SLPs. Overall I am very impressed with the kit and would recommend it to anyone. I bought mine from Lightning Force Performance for $469.00 + shipping (this is for the stainless steel kit).

PB BLASTER is the greatest thing ever made!!! it has never let me down. i cant tell you how many times it has saved my butt since i dont have a torch to heat up stubborn bolts.

I was thinking about getting the same thing, but i was wondering should i get the slp loudmouths first or wait and get the whole setup, which you think would be easier to install?

If you can do it at the same time then that is good since you will have the car up and will be pulling stuff off anyways. I had my SLPs before I had the X-pipe and I can tell you that they didn't get in the way during the install at all. When you are fitting everything that comes with the X-pipe kit together you have to move the intermediate pipes a little, but luckily they do a good job of swiveling and having or not having the SLPs will make no difference in this. One thing that I forgot to mention in my original post was that I had no problem with the SLPs sticking out. They actually look a little bit better than before since I was able to readjust them when installing the X-pipe. Unfortunately I ran over a bolt and now have a flat tire so I can't ride my baby until after I get the tire patched :notnice: .

Ya, I wanted to know the same thing. The guy at Steeda said you didn't with their axel back.

You definately don't need a retune at all with an axle-back exhaust. I have heard people say their CEL came on after installing their X-pipes, but I have had no problems at all with it so far (you might have problems if you use the straight pipes instead of the hiflow cats). Since I was having so much trouble with my Steeda CAI I plan on getting my car tuned in the next couple days to make sure everything is working right and my A/F ratio is ok.

yeah, axle backs are no problem. one bolt for the clamp, and 4 bolts for the hangers on each side....a ratchet wrench helps out...tight access between the mufflers and frame on some set-ups for the bolts that go up. i think loud mouths would be easier because they are not as bulky as say the flowmasters...
