Ah the time is almost near to ride in my newly converted 5.0 :D cant wait... anywhos- few questions.

1. 4cyl and 5.0 brake booster/MC do they both *need* to be changed?... or can I just change the MC only or something... if not then whats the easist way to swap them (i have a 91gt booster/mc)... I just had the dash out for the heatercore and I am not taking it back out...ever.

2. heater core replacement... I have heard of a limitor (washer with a hole?) thats supposed to go in one of the tubes of the heater core to limit flow?... maybe just a rumor but I want to clear it up before I hook up the new hoses. I don't want to be back in that same spot anytime soon.

3. I am trying to figure out all this vac crap that has become a mess from the 4 cyl. I have heard of a different vac canister between 5.0 and 4cyl and its in a fender?... Which fender, what does it look like and is it absolutely required to be swapped?

4. Anyone who has done a 4 cyl to 5.0 swap managed to get the alternator wires(2) to reach without extending the wires?...Mine are like 2 inches short :(

5. Anyone managed to get the cruise control from a 4cyl to reach the 5.0 mounting spot?... again mines like 2 inches short :(

6. What kind of fluid/mix goes into the 8.8 rear end (5lug stock length+3.73's if that matters)?

7. Anyone know the size of the bolt/nut that goes in the steering shaft that connects it to the steering rack (its over by the drivers side header near the firewall)?

Well if you could be generous enough to answer some these questions I would really appreciate it. Thanks alot guys/gals.

no. 7 is a grade 8 part (I believe) and it should be the same in 5.0 or 4cylinder stang. the one with the silver nut correct?.........should be able to reuse your old one.

I am not sure mine had a silver nut... Don't remember that well to be honest. It is the part where the steering shaft (female end) slides into the steering rack(male end) and there is a bolt that holds them together. Unsure of the offical name :-\

You can use the same break booster and MC from the 4 cyl stang. Thats what I did when I did my swap 2 years ago. I asked quite a few of my friends who had done the swap many times before...

Heater core - there is a limiter but every heater core has one, even the repalcement ones.

There is a different vac canister in the pass fender that you will need, there are 2 actually, first one is the shape of a small can, the second is a sphere. You have to get them...

To use the 4 cyl alt wires you have to splice into the harness and extend it or just find a 5.0 harness and replace it.

You will have to get the vac booster out of a 5.0 to use cruse (its on drivers side and contains the properor linkage)

Hope this helps :nice:
