I posted this before, but it got wiped out when stangnet crashed.

Anyone running the Fiore firewall adjuster and quadrant.I see they`ve both been redesigned.Any experience/opinions with these parts???

I've been working with Joe Fiorentino testing his quadrant and firewall adjuster on my car. He sent me a set to evaluate and comment on for my site

http://50stangs.com/techarticles/clutchcableadjustment.html

I've got tons of pics, if you want to see them.

I was incredibly impressed by his stuff, especially the firewall adjuster. The firewall adjuster has grooves in the thread, in which a ball bearing snaps into them when you twist the adjuster. As well, the clutch cable slides into the firewall adjuster, and slides into a rolling sleeve inside the firewall adjuster. There is no other design like it. What happens, is the rolling sleeve fits around the cable, so you don't have all that damn tension when adjusting it, as it slides very smoothly around the cable.

Joe fiorentino stands behind his product 100%, it's good stuff, and it works great.

Sounds good. Are you testing the new revised versions of the FW adjuster and quadrant or the original versions?

the newer quadrant, but the older blue firewall adjuster, although he said functionally, the blue and chrome firewall adjuster is exactly the same..

I'll have that article revised within the week with tons of pics, but it'll likely be too late by then.

FYI, I've used a number of setups, including ford racing quadrant, fiore, upr quadrant and firewall adjuster, and we have a mm quadrant at home I've compared with, but not used.

I like the upr extreme firewall adjuster, but I hate their lousy triple hook quadrant (single hook deals are much better) I LOVE the ford racing quadrant, but they have no firewall adjuster. Here are some pics of the mm quadrant, fiore, and the ford racing one. ALL of them are good, but the fiore firewall adjuster, imo is where it's at, and is the best I've tested yet

I won't comment on the quadrant lengths yet, I'm still formulating my opinion on that, i'll say they all work great.

you can see the grooves in the third pic, that's what the ball bearing locks into

Yes, You'll have to do that with any firewall adjuster.

fitment on mine was slightly tight, and I flat filed part of the sheath slightly too to make it fit in the firewall adjuster hole, took only a minute or two. Likely production tolerance, etc (in the clutch cables), it was minor

i was thinkin about gettin this FWA also. i have the upr one and it seems like it never stays like it should. every time i check it, the stupid thing is loose. guess ill be buying this one shortly...especially since jeremy has some good things to say about it

Hmmm...no other Fiore fans out there?

The guy you mention has an upcoming review on these pieces on his website apparently.

from my experience, if you have a clutch/tranny problem, jeremy (v8only) is the authority to talk to. he has definetly helped me more than once with certain problems. hes a great guy and i wish he was around on this site more often

hey, thanks, seriously!! I used to be a complete post whore, with my last position, when I did nothing at work. I joined this site, right at the end of that whoring. During that time, I accumulated 4000 posts at foureyedpride, 3000 at corral, and a ton other places, now I barely have time to check on the sites daily :( It seems I've been working for an entire generation to get to 1000 posts here (not that that matters :) )

anyway, Joe fiorentino is a great guy, and he approached me for the very reason to get the work out. I'm by no means, the last say so, and I've love to hear from others too about this setup, as I've only installed it and run around the block a few times before bringing it back into the garage toyank the engine. Problem is, that his setup is still so new, and he's a new name, and not many people have tried his setup, as we're figuring out. Anyone who buys this, and tries it out, let us know how it goes!!!!

I just installed my Fiore FWA and quadrant yeterday, seems good so far. I replaced my cable at the same time however and I think its about an inch to short. They offer a 59 incher and a 60 incher I installed the 59 and my pedal is super high... and yes the adjuster is all the way in.

Which cable did you use exactly,eg,OE Ford non-adjustable,(which I believe only come in one lenght),or an aftermarket cable?
Is your car a fox body,87-93?

I`ve never heard of any cables being advertised as 59 and 60 inch.

When you say your pedal is super high,do you mean the position where the clutch starts the grab/engage?

I'm guessing the resting point.

my oem cable is nearly 4 foot exactly, from sheath to sheath (not counting the length of the actual cable, just the rubber sheath)

If your clutch pedal sits that high, be sure it's not too tight and constantly disengaging, or you'll ruin your clutch.

I'd suggest a real oem cable (they only come in one length) or an sn95 cable (they work, and they're longer than the fox cables. Get them from buyfordracing.com or mm for cheaper than ford.

With my fiore setup, the FWA was turned out JUST less than halfway, and the clutch pedal sits just above the brake pedal, and it grabs 3-4 inches or less than halfway up in it's travel, and I'm using my factory oem 200k clutch cable.
