Anybody have any pictures of where the toploader linkage exits the firewall and maybe even where it hooks up to the pedal on any 67-70 mustang. I need to know for my hydraulic setup I haven't been able to find any.
Sorry bud, my car is an auto or I'd have already snapped a pic for ya. I recall articles in the magazines for converting to a hydraulic clutch, have you looked on their websites?
I am looking everywhere with no results. I have searched the hell out of the internet i have found something that shows where i can install the cylinder so I know it's possible.
There should be a plugged hole on the firewall you can punch out to feed the clutch rod through. I can't snap a pic because the rod is hidden behind a bunch of stuff.
Are you making this yourself or did you buy a hydraulic kit with no instructions?
I will be buying the hydraulic clutch tomorrow but I can't seem to find that piece that needs to be punched out. It's driving me crazy I need a pic to see where it comes from. I want to find it so I can take some measurements.
On the "ear" that sticks out the side of the pedal. I have to run but I'll post a pic in a bit.
edit - I took the pic with my old camera thinking it's be "faster" but I can't find the card reader. Basically it's in line with the ear of the clutch pedal, on the bottom hole. It is to the upper-left of the steering column. I think that's the speedo cable immediately above the hole.
Hmmm still having trouble finding it. The biggest problem is I don't really know what I am looking for. I have taken this whole car apart and swapping out the pedals and locating this dang thing have been the most tiresome by far.
my '73 didn't have a plug. i looked until i was blue in the face. i ended just threading the rod from the clutch pedal to the firewall. on my car the rubber seal around the steering column was large enough to pass it through. i did a four speed changeover on a '71 back in '80 and i remember doing the same thing. i don't recall there being a plug in the firewall on that car either. is it possible that Ford made 2 different firewalls?
Yeah thanks I appreciate it. I have been looking in that same spot and can't really see it. I will keep looking. Thanks Ron for taking that pic for me.
i have a 69 that i am going to install a hyd clutch.the hole your talking about is directly below the the fuse box.give me your email address and i will email you a pic....................................................................roger
