Firing order, Ign. Timing, etc. HELP

ok here's the deal!
On my Harm. Balancer i have a white mark on 0degrees but on my block the little arrow thing is above a round thing just below! I'm not sure if i line up the arrow or the circle with the 0 degree mark.

Then i don't know which firing order i need to use....
i was trying 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 but there is another one that is used on the HO motors and the 351's which is...1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

:Damnit:

ANY ideas???? Should i actually just take it too a shop?

I am using a MSD6AL and noticed that when i had the plug out but in the ignition wire and held it on the header while my mother cranked the car there was no spark...i know what's wrong but i still dunno what to do about the rest once i fix the spark issue....

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP:hail2:

Use the arrow for the timing and this should help for the firing order, i just found this yesterday
http://www.boxwrench.net/specs/ford_302_351W.htm

ok

so now i will redo with the 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order and line up the arrow on top dead center...right?

and a timing light is useless til the motor can run as long as it is running even if it is rough, thats only when the timing light is any good!

Right...

To reach top dead center you shove a rag down cylinder #1 and start cranking it over untill the rag pops out. Then you pull your distributor and line the rotor with the #1 plug wire on the cap. Would be about 11 o clock looking at the motor. This will get your motor started so you can throw a timing light on it and fine tune it. If you dont understand please respond cause I'm pretty drunk right now. :nice:

HO firing order. did you pull the distributor out? if not, you dont need to find TDC. what kind of light are you using. the white mark on zero is if you have an advance dial light. point the light at the top of the marker, not the circle. i found it easiest to see the mark if you stand on the passanger side. make sure you remove the spout connector.
