First Mods

I have a 2000 Mustang GT. I already have a MAC fenderwell system and MAC Catback. What should I do next? My Goal is to put my pony over 300hp. I eventually will supercharge it but I am unable to do that yet. I heard pullies are a good idea but I don't know. (What is involved in putting those on?) I can do almost anything myself. Thanx

300fwhp shouldn't be too hard to reach, 300rwhp is going to be a little more involved. Without removing your heads, I'd say that pulleys would be your next best bet. You could always finish off the rest of your exhaust going with the mid pipe next, then the headers. There are other little things like T/B and MAF, but I'm the type the would prefer to do all that after the heads have been PnP'd.

If a supercharger isn’t in the not too distant future, I’d skip the pulleys, since they’ll have to be removed with the addition of the charger, and I’d go with at least a 75mm T/B. It won’t help much now while you’re still N/A, but blowers love big throttle bodies.

Regardless of your next mods, you should consider going to a set of 3.73-4.10 gears to take advantage of any power mods that will be made. Night and day difference! :nice:

Like stated above, you have to decide what you want from your car and what you are going to use it for. If you want just something a little quicker(300 flywheel hp) then Id suggest stuff like Exhaust, midpipe, and maybe longtube headers if you dont mind the loudness. Then you could go for some underdrive pulleys, and a timing adjuster. Follow that up with a new plenum and throttle body and you should be at or over 300 flywheel. Now if you want 300 rear wheel hp, then I would say skip everything except the exhaust and tb/plenum and go for a supercharger. Making 300 rwhp without a blower on these cars gets down right EXPENSIVE. The first thing I would do however is a set of Flowmaster 2 chambers and a Steeda Triax shifter. These two things make your car very fun to drive. Then get some 3.73 or 4.10 rear end gears. Good luck.

Well a supercharger is going to be about a year before I can get one. College just sucks up so much of my money. The bolt on mods are best for now because I get those as gifts during the holidays and when I have some extra cash in my pocket. I may not supercharge my GT if they release a Cobra in 2006. I will just trade mine in towards that and fully modify it. For now I am really looking to make my GT rip the rice burners and most anything else on the street up. The more power the better. I am the type of person who likes to know he has the power under the hood if I need it. I would love to hit 300rwhp. My GT is not going to be used for racing. If I hit high 12's in it I would be more than satisfied. I have another vehicle for the track. Thanx for all the suggestions so far and keep em coming.

Full length sub-frame connectors.

It’s not a HP mod but IMO they are a must.
Same with a short throw shifter, if it’s a 5spd.

If you’re interested in just more horses right now I’d do more with the exhaust and at least get a mid-pipe, add a timing adjuster and some gears.

If you go cat-less with the mid-pipe you’ll need MIL’s and if you do gears, a speedo correction. So, I’d drop the timing adjuster and go with a tuner instead.
