Well I'm back from the first time at the track with my new setup. I Have a 1996 Mustang GT with a 2001 engine with forged internals setup for 9.41 compression for a blower setup down the road. The car has the 2001 engine, bbk longtube headers, offroad x-pipe, and flowmaster cat back with a SCT mail tune from MPH for 93 octane. I also have a tubular k-member and a-arms, rear seat delete, and 3.73 rear gears. Hurting my times are a set of bbk lowering springs (came with car havent had a chance to change them yet). I was expecting high 13's but was nowhere near that lol. I thing i need the driver mod. Here is my best run of the night:

reaction .3540
60 ft - 2.2449
330 ft - 6.3179
1/8 et - 9.6170
1/8 mph - 75.64
1000' et - 12.4549
1000' mph - 86.54
1/4 et - 14.8209
1/4 mph - 95.75

This time was on street tires and the car weighed 3505 with me in it. I plugged that into an the virtual engine calculator and it said 247 rwhp which seems right for the mods I have. I spun a little off the line and pedaled it on the run I had listed. I thought stock PI gt's ran close to 100mph? The track was milan michigan and it was low to mid 70's when i ran. Please discuss

well you should be faster with those mods. in your 1/8th mile im trapping atleast 3mph higher than you and that with the same 60'. I just ran last thursday and it was around 84 degrees with some crazy humidity. and i was still trapping 78 and i dont have the headers yet. i would think you would be faster than that trapping atleast 100mph. on a good 70 degree day with a 60' in the 2.0 range ill trap 80 in the 1/8th.

Whats the altitude at that track?

Was this your first time at the track period? Or just with this set up? Were you running closer to your expectations back when you had the NPI engine (ie, if you were expecting high 14's when you went to the track before the PI swap, were you getting that)?

Altitude and humidity can play a big part. Don't know what elevation Michigan is at. You should definately be faster though. I ran 14.4 @ 98 for the last 2 of my 4 runs the first time at the track with the setup in my sig. I was pretty dissapointed, but I plan to go back and get better. Or just get a supercharger. We'll see...

Maybe all it'll take is getting used to your new setup. Go back next week

The track elevation is around 660 feet, the da for that day was 178 feet. So it doesnt look like weather was a factor. Does anyone know where I could get the car dynoed in michigan and how much it would cost? I guess I will go back wednesday and try again.

With a DA of only 178ft. you should definately be trapping at least 98-100mph. You might try adding some timing with your tuner and see what that does. Something isn't quite right IMO.

how much timing should i add? I was hesitant of doing so due to the fact I didnt know what MPH had set it at because it was already set for 93 octane, and not many stations sell more then that. Although technically with the lower compression, would that allow me to run more timing safely? I should be heading to the track again wednesday if the weather cooperates. I shift quickly but was not powershifting.

Your compression is higher than stock . 99-mid01 was what 9.0-1 right? And mid 01-04 was 9.37 I believe...but id have to check. But in any case your VERY close to stock. So thats not it.

Put that bad boy on a dyno and see what your making. I was trapping 96.5 with just a K&N filter with a custom ram air setup. You should be MUCH faster...you should do 102-104ish with that DA. Yea people say that a dyno is just a tool...yea it may vary 10HP at best on adverage. But iv never seen a KB cobra put down 200RWHP in any dyno....just like iv never see a stock 04 GT make 500RWHP. Its always going to be close unless you have a total retard running the dyno.
Go to a local LARGE car dealership (not Ford so they arnt partial) and put it on their dyno...some have them.

I was shifting between 5000-5500, I was launching around 2k, the tires would spin, I would pedal it then nail the throttle, I know there is more in the 60' i should be able to cut 2.0's if i get the launch down. I may add +1 timing to all the rpm ranges and try that out.

That is a big range. The difference between 5000 and 5500 is about .2 faster.

My best 1/8 mile run in my '00 GT 5 spd(Flowmasters and Eibach sport springs were the only mods)was 9.143@77.68(60' 2.14).

Try shifting around 57-5800rpm. I wouldn't take it up to 6 tho.

+1 The tach in my '00 GT has the redline at 5750. At the track that is where I shift.

Your trap speed is way too low indicating a lack of power. Ya you need to work on the launch and you should be shifting later, but trap speed indicates HP. I accidentally launched in second once, in my auto and still trapped at over 100. With your mods you should be making more power than me. You do have the Pi heads, cams and intake don't you?

try shifting around 5200-5500,play around in that area of rpms, taking it up to 6 is just wasting time, the car doesnt pull up to 6 with your combo.get some slicks, run em with about 10psi and launch it a little under 5 and that should get you a pretty good 60 ft.launched mine around 4700 with slicks and cut a 1.7 60ft with stock control arms and intrax 2inch drop springs.
