Here is a deal , last weekend my friend rebuild my T5 tranny, in tranny he change blocker rings , synchros and plastic inserts , also he put for me steel bering retainer , new Cobra clutch kit(I burn old Cobra clutch kit in 10 months/9k miles because I have oil leak on rear main seal) and new Ford Racing cast iron flywheel , same day when he put together everything we take a car to test , I drive , everything fine , except two things : In 3rd gear aroung 3000-3200rpms and up when I punched gas pedal , shifter/handle start shaking like "trrrrrrrrrrrr" left and right, ok in that day I had stock shifter with a lot play in handle so I been thinking shifter is realy bad now , (before he rebuild tranny ,I never have ploblem like that) ,
Second problem is when I rev up over 4500rpms ,whole car start shake , so I think "now I have new flywheel I gonna give this problems a few days,
Problem is still there, two days ago I got Pro-5.0 shifter , so I put in my car same day ,and I have hope "shifter never gonna shake like before" , BUT I'M WRONG , shifter still shaking and make trrrrrrrrrrr noise ONLY ONLY in 3rd gear at 3000 and up
I have 3 months old U-joints, 4 months old rear end so thats good ,
WTF is wrong now

maybe you have a chipped gear tooth in third gear or it might be worn. and you said the synchros are new? bc worn synchros will make that sound too.

My tranny is doing the same thing in first, second, and thrid gears from 3.5k rpm and up. KillerCanary mentioned some possible causes, I'll try to find the thread.

Seth, does it make that noise with the stock shifter too, or just the Pro 5.0? If it is just with the Pro 5.0, that is semi-common. Some people have a problem with aftermarket shifters making a jackhammer-type noise. Have you tried calling the guy that rebuilt the tranny to see what he says?

I'd call up your tranny guy....sounds like you had NO problems before the the work????

If the flywheel was "wobbling" as I think your thinking??? you starter would have an engagement problem???

Did you replace the pilot shaft bearing during the rebuild???

I have a Pro5.0, had it for 5 years...never and issue with it....

I would bring it back to whoever rebuilt it. Something isn't right, didn't you post some pics of this guys work area awhile back?? If I remember it wasn't the cleanest. Maybe something got in it.

I never have problems like this before , I remember when I had bad balancer , rubber falling off , but no vibration , than you send me one , and everything after is fine
What that mean "If the flywheel was "wobbling" as I think your thinking"
My starter is good, mechanic tell me that
And didn't replace the pilot shaft bearing during the rebuild because my is good and change that bearing last time when I change clutch
He clean whole tranny inside and out , tranny is clean is hell, he done about 50 Mustangs tranny in his life
Is there any chance for bad crankshaft bearings

I would make sure the driveshaft was put back in the same orientation it came off.. Meaning, the driveshaft should be marked against the rear end, before it is removed. I had some mechanic swear up and down how it didn't matter, so I asked him to just humor me, and do what I said to do.. Well, that prick didn't mark it, and I had bad vibrations... I ended just replacing the driveshaft, and my problems were solved...

I agree with killer95 on checking the driveshaft orientation, it could have been put back in differently than it was removed. That will cause some bad vibration. Hope you get it figured out and 100% road ready. Good luck to ya.

The driveshaft should cause a speed dependent vibration, not one depending on rpms.

Check to make sure you got a 50oz imbalance flywheel first. I have made this mistake on a stroker motor, it did almost exactly what you discribed.
This will destroy the engine if you beat on it for long. If it is a zero balance flywheel or a 20oz imbalance flywheel, you have thrown the balance of your engine off.

Check your exhaust, I have had this problem before with longtubes, its usually related to the exhaust,h pipe, hanger, pipe hitting somewhere, etc.

Check your motor mounts too, anytime you pull the trans and let the motor hang it can be hard on the motor mounts.

Check your harmonic balancer too, common for them to fail on 94-95 mustangs, I have replaced mine before. The outer hub will slip on the inner hub when the rubber gets old.

Deff make sure you got the right flywheel first. Very important.

I hope your flywheel was packaged right.

If you are pretty sure of having the right flywheel, I would go to the exhaust, try unbolting and rebolting the h pipe. Usually with longtube and short H pipe you have no hangers correct? stock they have hanger that attaches to the rear trans mount. Sometimes if you tighten all the exhaust bolts before you let the trans/engine settle in there mounts, you can put it in a bind. Because the exhaust is supporting some of the weight of the engine/trans.

you might even unbolt the exhaust at the h pipe/ header and see if the vib is gone in neutral. I know it will be real loud, but you should be able to feel if the vib is gone.

Good luck

94SLOWBRA First I put O/R H-pipe for shorty /stock headers , than I bought mac long tube headers and muffler shop cut long O/R h-pipe and make fit with LTs and I still have hanger that attaches to the rear trans mount
And I try with unbolt the exhaust at the h pipe/ header and H-pipe/flows , but nothing , same F@#$%^& thing

Anyway I just come back from a little trip on highway , I make 50 miles on highway , with normal and hard driving , tranny looks good , spimm tires in 1st all way IN 2nd allway(it's too cold out side) and chrip in 3rd with one passenger in car , everything is fine except that thamn vibration in 3rd and tonyght in 4th (because I did't try in 4th over 3000rpms) and in neutral when I reving up , thats same vibration so thats not tranny it's about flywhhel ,harmonic balancer or something else

Its almost got to be the flywheel. You could have got a bad Pressure Plate or Clutch disc, these things are balanced too, but I doubt either of them being bad. If you have checked the exhaust over, and your motor and trans mounts(BTW these mounts are stock right, no poly?) are good, and you have checked the Harmonic balancer then it almost has to be the flywheel/pressure plate/clutch disc problem. You said it vibrates in neutral, right? What about with the clutch pedal down or up? Does it vibrate in ALL gears if you have the clutch pedal down while you rev above 3000rpm? Like say for instance you were gonna lauch from a stop light at 5000rpm in 1st gear. If you were sitting there at 5000rpm in 1st gear with the clutch pedal down, would it be vibrating you out of your seat?

I agree with the drive shaft alignment idea, I have a 66 dodge powerwagon that has a stub shaft between the tranny and transfer case, one time i forgot to put it back on so the yolks were in the same plane and it did basically the exact same thing your stang is, basically make sure the tanny yolk and rear end yolk are either both vertical or both horizontal. Another time i had bad driveline vibration the staps had came loose ataching the driveline to the yolk, i chased the problem for a few days and it kept pissin me off made the whole damm truck shake turns out it was just loose bolts, good luck man, Dan

OK ,here is what I check today , I check hanger of O/R H-pipe (first I had h-pipe for shortie than I bought long tubes and I make h-pipe fit , cut on a few place) and that hanger is only on tranny ,not conected to h-pipe , I put one hanger on h-pipe but other one is worn so I broke that one , any way I check vibration again but nothing wibration is still there ,
Yes I have vibration in neutral with clutch pedal up or down , and I have vibration in any gear with clutch pedal down , in neutral vibration come over 4900rpms , if I drive in any gears vibration come over 3000rpms , balancer is good nothing bad than before rebuilding tranny , and vibration is like HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Today I call place from where I order flywheel , guy tell me thats 50OZ balanced flywheel and direct replacement for stock one AND yes , new one is same like old one(stock one) same numbers and everything

I don't thing it's hangers , must me something betwwen balancer on one side to pressure on other side
