Floor pans

Sorry I have so many threads going on at the same time but there's been alot going on. lots of new discorveries.

Well today I finished removing all the stupid old insulation in the car, after 6 hrs of back breaking scrubbing with a wire brush and a toxic smelling goof off adhesive remover i was able to take off all of it. Driver's side... surface rust i guess but nothing huge. Passenger side... rusted through =( Here are some pics:

What do you guys think? is it bad enough that I have to replace it? or is there some knd of filler and anti rust stuff i can put over it to stop rusting.
Structurally it is strong, i can stand on it and nothing will happen if i put a screw driver that is bigger than the hold it doesn't collapse, only if i really try to dig deep does it crack.

Just por15 (or equivalent) and call it a day. I wouldnt bother with the pinholes honestly. If you need to order, POR15 does have a liquid patch stuff for the pinholes.

POR15 can be used to fill the pinholes if you want to do so. POR15 says place tape on one side of the pinhole on the panel then just paint on the POR15. After two or three coats and when the POR15 has fully cured, peel off the tape. You now have a sealed hole that's very strong.

I haven't tried filling pinholes myself but POR15 is very tough stuff so I'm sure it would work fine.

There's always a lot of rust under the pans. I thought mine were fine until I started poking around with a screw driver around the seat riser. I now have new floor pans installed and seat risers.

yah, the holes don't jeopardize the structural integrity yet, its still pretty strong, unless i jab really hard with a screw driver at a certain angle nothing happens.

Where would I buy Por 15? do you just paint it on top of the current floor pans or do i need to keep on scrubbing?

I have a magazine article on POR-15 which I found as part of my research to try and figure out what to do with my floor pans. Sent me a personal message and I can send you a PDF of the article.

I was reading geordie's thread and I did a water pouring test on my car as well and I don't have a leak in my cowl, but if i look up i can see some surface rust there.

A quart should do with a bit left over.

You might look for some liquid metal to fill the pin holes. Use the tape on the bottom to keep it from leaking through. I find the stuff even in dept. store auto sections. The marine clean that you should find on the shelf next to to the POR 15 is good stuff. You need to really degrease and have a toothy surface for the POR 15 stick. Wear gloves it doesn' wash off.
