Floor switch(es) for operating windows

I got this crazy idea today when I was getting off of the highway. I know it may sound stupid, but it's really just a "cool factor" thing. I want to install two foot switches (near the pedals, but mounted aside) so that I can tap one for my front windows to roll down and tap the other to roll them up. I currently have one-touch up and one-touch down on both windows. Would this be as simple as just wiring a few wires up to a switch and the current leads of the window switches in the driver door? Any suggestions would be appreciated, even if you are trying to convince me not to. I might listen, who knows?

It'll only be cool if you also put in switches to honk the horn and flash the headlights.

I would be happy if I had a foot switch to dim and bright the lights. I hate the way the handle pushes forward and back instead of just clicking.

Some of you guys on here probably remember, back in the day the bright switch did in fact used to be on the floor by the dead pedal. My fathers 79 Dodge truck still has the little bright switch on the floor.

I'm sure you could find some switches big enough to mount down there for your windows. I would think with a good wiring diagram, some planning, and careful wire routing that you easily perform this mod. If you do, take pictures, I'd be interested to see how you do it.

You get my vote for originality.. don't let anyone here discourage you from doing what you want to your vehicle.

Well I agree it could be done but I would advise you to mount the switch as far from the window as possible to prevent kids from stepping on it while sticking their heads out the window... That would be bad...

Ever hear of the guy who made his lowered mini-pickup drop to the ground hydraulically when it deteced motion that was too close to it? A little homeless orphan kid was trying to retrieve his lost puppy from under the truck and the truck detected the motion and dropped to the ground killing both the inocent little homeless orphan kid and the lost puppy...

You should take as many safety precautions as you possibly can when dealing with systems like airbag, fuel, window movement, brakes, safety restraints, etc.

I have a DEI 530T Window Module installed, which will stop the window if it detects and obstruction. I've tested it, it works . Just to be sure, I'll go test it right now. Brb.

I did many tests just now. I stuck my hand on the window and pressed down slightly. It stopped within a second with very little pressure. I also stuck my arm in the window (ready to open the door in case it didn't stop) and it put about as much pressure as a blood pressure tester does. I think we're good in the window movement obstruction deptartment . That is a BIG concern though, hence the new style of window switches where you have to PULL UP on the switch to roll the window up. Safety first!

I was gonna comment on how old school that was. My '69 Dodge Dart and '71 Plymouth Fury (my old man was a Mopar guy) both had them.

My dad's '88 F-350 dump truck has the floor mounted bright switch. Not so old school, but still old enough!

my old 1982 F150 has that too. i think its the greatest invention ever, i like clicking that thing with my foot and the high beams coming on.

Yep, I fall into that age bracket.
And it did work so much better than these 27 function turn signal arms we've got now.
