Are jacks rebuildible when they start to leak?

Yes they are. I have a truck jack older than that I am. I recently had it rebuild at a local hydraulic repair company for $100. It works like new now.

- Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

Finally bought a jack and used it today and work flawlessly. It has all the features that I want from a jack: It goes up fast, goes down easy, its light 45lbs, and seem to be well built. If jacks leak later down the road is it possible to rebuild the pumps?

Craftsman 4000 lb. Capacity Aluminum Jack - Model 50239 at Sears.com

This is the one I bought. I got mine for $150 I think. I didn't read the negative reviews before I bought it. Mine has worked well so far, but I've only had it for about 3 months.

i have the same one as that, my dad bought it over 15 years ago and it still works awesome, he bought a new one just like that so i got his old one, and they both work bitchen

Avoid craftsman. I had one that broke after about a months worth of light use. Don't get me wrong I like Craftsman sockets, but anything else, like a floor jack, or the torque wrench that I had that also broke after mild use, AVOID.

hmmm i have thousands of craftsman tools, including torque wrenches and floor jacks, both of which i have used many times while working these past few weeks

Gotta bring this back. I'm pretty upset about my craftsman jack as of today. I was lifting the front drivers side of my car looking to figure out where I was losing coolant from. I heard a pop, and found this:

The two main steel plates that make up the sides of the jack bent out, and the front wheel (drum) came out. I could be way off, but I don't think something like this should happen. Any thoughts?

I never have problems with Craftsman, and I have almost every type of tool they sell, from auto to wood working. I used to work there so I took advantage of computing my own discounts.. lol

I would always suggest to buy the replacement agreement, if available. Its usually pretty cheap, and if it every breaks you bring it back and get a new one.. I haven't had to really use it, but its good to have, just in case.

I'm looking to get a floor jack to replace my current Duralast one. I'll keep the Duralast just for whenever I may need a second jack, hehe... or as a loaner. Anyone know if this one from Harbor Freight is good?

3 Ton Super Heavy Duty Floor Jack
Up to 20" lift

Also I want these jackstands.

6 Ton Jack Stand Set
Up to 24" lift

I have one of those Craftsman aluminum jacks that I bought about 4 years ago and it sucks. Only had it a couple of months and it started seeping fluid, I have to bust my hump to get the jackstands underneath it once I get whatever I'm working on in the air cause it starts to leak down just as soon as I stop pumping.

If anyone has a Costco around them I strongly suggest checking out their Arcan 3.5 Ton jack. I picked up a membership specifically for the Jack...and it kicks some serious ass. Not only is it low profile (3.5") , but it has a pretty damn high lift height as well at 21 3/8". At only $99, you won't find anthing with the same specs anywhere near this price. Here are some pics stolen from another forum....
